  The Past That Refuses to Stay Dead   Lyra's POV   "…or worse."   The words stayed in the air, no one spoke, no one moved.   I felt it inside me, that truth.   It sat heavy in my chest and Darius watched me carefully, like I might break.   Kael then stood still and his eyes did not leave my face and I wished they would say something, anything.   But the silence was loud, too loud and my head started to ache, it was sharp and sudden and I pressed my hand to my temple.   "Lyra?" Darius said.   "I am fine."   I am not.
