Feeling alive

Holly POV

I woke to lights filtering through the curtains, wait, I didn't have curtains in my room. I woke up with a start, what happened to me? I looked at my surroundings, I have never been in such a glamorous room before. I looked down to my left to the most handsome face I have ever met, for some reason, I was not afraid of him, it was like I knew that he would never hurt me on purpose but after my years of torture, I could never trust anyone anymore. I moved away from him as quietly as possible in hope of not to awake him. I was afraid that if I disturbed his sleep, he will hurt me.

Silly, that is our mate, he will never hurt us. Ember said, I swear I could see the hearts flying out of her eyes. Mate? Since when did I found my mate? Then it all came back to me, hitting me like a ton of bricks. We ran from our pack and I let ember took over, she ran and got us in another territory, the alpha king is my mate. At that I almost fainted again, alphas alone are already possessive, I can't imagine how possessive the alpha king will be. But that also means that the guy on my left is my mate. 

"You're awake," he said softly, as if he was afraid to scare me away. That's it, he is going to reject me, I mean who wouldn't, I am a rogue and a runt. I close my eyes waiting for him to say the words of rejection but it never came. I open my eyes, to say shock is an understatement.

"Y-yea" it feels weird that the words left my mouth, it has been quite a while since I had spoken and my voice didn't sound like my own anymore. It was croaky and hoarse. I felt him move a bit before a cup of water was handed to me. I looked at him weirdly. 

"Drink this," he said looking at me with a hint of amusement in his eyes. I took the cup from his hand and greedily drank it all down. It has been a while since I have drank water as the pack didn't think that I was worth any water. All I really got as 'water' was wolvesbane or silver. "Looks like you really are thirsty, when had been the last time you drank?" He asked me before all of a sudden, he started raging like literally. He was giving out a scary aura but ember wasn't afraid, it was as if he didn't give off the scary aura. On the other hand, I was a little scared but because ember was giving off a soothing feeling, I didn't exactly felt affected by his aura. I timidly placed my hand on his trying to calm him down because if I did not, ember would have taken control and I don't exactly want that because moon goddess know what she will do. He looked up at me, showing me his black eyes, one that would have scared me to hell if I wasn't his mate. I guess this is the mate bond, I was getting more confident by the minute and I realised that I was healing a lot after than I normally do, I feel so energetic and feel new. I looked back up at him and realised that he eyes was changing back and forth between his sapphire blue and black eye colour, telling me that he was fighting his wolf for control, before settling to a beautiful sapphire blue. I feel that whenever I stare into his eyes, I can see the storm in his eyes, something I don't mind getting caught in. I felt alive for once, could I finally have that happily ever after that I used to wish for?
