I watched the phone ring until it finally stopped, the screen going dark. I couldn't pick it up, my hand tightened hard around the plastic cup Romy had handed over to me.
I took a slow sip of the cold drink, the sweetness doing nothing to calm the storm in my chest. The phone buzzed again almost immediately. Romy tilted her head, clearly catching the name on the screen. Her eyes went wide with surprise and a little excitement.
