JUNE; The cab pulled up right before the coffee shop. Adults walked in and out of it, my throat gulped. The watch on my wrist showed a few minutes before five in the evening. The air was getting even colder, as if we should expect autumn rain soon. A doorman held the door while I went through, returning his bright smile even though my ankle still throbbed a little from the fall. The coffee shop buzzed with life, soft chatter, the hiss of the espresso machine, and the rich smell of coffee beans filling the air nicely. I headed straight for a table by the window and sat down.
