1052 Words
Author's POV It was the 19th and xmas holidays had started, Michael intended to sleep late saturday morning but it started raining heavily at 6:00a.m. After tossing and turning for an hour, he finally got up, pulled on black shorts and a yellow T-shirt, then went down to the kitchen and made himself an omelette. Martha discovered him as he was buttering toast, her expression horrified. "You're not supposed to fend for yourself when you're home," she said, looking with surprise into the frying pan, "I'm supposed to cook for you." He kissed her cheek, scooped his omelette onto the plate that held his toast. "It's okay, I was too hungry to wait for you. And it's the weekend, which means you're supposed to be home. Now go!" She grumbled further, but he stepped out and closed the door behind him. He was just beginning to eat when Marcus caming rushing down the staircase. "is that toast?" He asked, picking one off the plate. Michael: "So, you had time to sightsee?" He asked as Marcus angled one knee over the other and leaned back. "This land? No," Marcus replied,"Not really. But if you mean the women! Then yes." Marcus poured some apple juice and sipped his drink,"you know I've been thinking about leaving the family company, Kruger Mills doesn't really need me. " He said in a defensive tone."I need to find my own path." Michael nodded, there was only a three year difference between them but since their mother died, Marcus had become his close friend. "I understand you." Marcus: "But dad doesn't, he thinks I'd be abandoning the family." Michael: "well, you're his favorite son, he'd......" "No!" Marcus interrupted, "See! There it is, I am not his favorite." Michael raised an eyebrow. "No?" Marcus: "No!" Everytime dad tries to offer guidance, he refers to you. All he talks about is you!" "You all sound like a couple of children." Kairos interrupted. "Here's something for those mouths." He walked into the room with three plates of chocolate cake and handed one to each of his brothers. Michael: "That's nice of you to share. I remember a time when you'd eat the whole thing and not worry about us." Kairos: "I would have but Martha clearly stated these two were for you and I don't want to answer to her." Marcus: "yeah, right!" Kairos: "What were you two fighting about?" Michael: "which of his sons dad loves the most." Jairo: "That's easy. Me." He said, making, a scornful noise. ***************************************** Nikki's P.O.V I woke up late morning with a massive headache, and the rains were making it hard for me to sleep. I covered my head with a pillow but it wasn't helping, so I rolled out of bed, took a pain killer and switched on my phone. I had a message from my sister Camilla, asking me to call her back. We'd never been close but we were sisters. I called her back and was just about to give up when she answered. Camilla: "sis! What happened to you? I've been trying to call you." Me:"ohh Cami, hangover! I feel terrible." She laughed out loud and told me about a guy she'd met in Botswana but wasn't sure about dating. This was the first time she was telling me about a guy. I told her to follow her heart. Truth be told, I just wanted to get into cold water. Camilla:"mum told me you're dating. wow. And, Michael? Eish. That family is loaded." Me:"money! That's all you ever think about, and I hadn't noticed." I let out a fake laugh."Camilla let me call you back, i've got a killer headache." We said our goodbyes and I hung up. Remembering the events of last night I realized I'd had more than half a bottle of Jack Daniels! And Michael had kept his promise. On our way up, he had taken me to my room, wished me a good night and left. I lay on the floor for thirty minutes after taking the painkiller. I felt better, stood up and soaked myself in the tub filled with cold water. It felt good and refreshing. I dressed up in black shorts with a red pullover before going down to make breakfast. I knew Martha was off on weekends so I had to cook for myself. I was turning into the kitchen when I heard voices from the study, it was Marcus, Michael and Kairos. They were talking and laughing, what a perfect family I said to myself and walked in only to find Martha frosting a cake. Me:"you're still here?" I asked."So do I get free breakfast?" Her: "Finally, you're awake, I was beginning to think you'd passed on." She smiled." I'll be leaving in an hour, so what do you want to eat?" Me: "scrambled eggs, bacon and some of that cake." I rubbed my hands together and passed her a plate. She cut out a huge piece for me then started cracking eggs. I love chocolate cake, I can finish an entire cake alone. After having my breakfast I ran up to Bonnie's room and jumped on her. She was still in bed. Her: "b***h, get off now. Am not your mother. You want d**k, go get it elsewhere." I sat there for a few seconds before i started hitting her with a pillow. She laughed and asked me to give her a minute, which I did. She wasn't a morning person. We discussed last night's events and how she thought she was in love. Me: "and grandpa?" I asked. She was quiet for a bit digesting everything, "I have a plot." She said and jumped off the bed."If I get marcus to look at me like Michael looks at you, I'll drop my grandpas. But in the meantime they stay and I'll plot on getting Marcus." How was she even going to get him to like her? Last I heard, he was into Hispanic women. "And if he does fall for you, then what? You become faithful?" "Hell no!" She let out a small chuckle and ran into the bathroom. Bonnie was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. she was dark in complexion with curly hair and taller than me with a bigger butt and big breasts.
