It had been a few days since I had left the penthouse when I went to see my mother at the hospital. Once I had my things, I returned to my mother's home. Some of the things I brought with me were listed online for sale. Still, there are no buyers. I knew what I would have to do because I was running out of money. I needed a roof over my head, and my mother would need her medication. Unfortunately, I would have to go back to the streets.
As I walked into her hospital room, she smiled at me. “Greetings, Julia.”
She smiled back at me. I hadn't told her about the happenings. She was aware of my relationship with Rick but was unaware of the details. I reasoned that she already had enough on her plate and didn't need to be concerned about me.
"Hey." I returned her greeting.
Compared to my previous visit, she actually seemed like she had a little more energy today. She was given the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, which was being treated with radiation. She lost weight and experienced hair loss as a result of the treatments. They thought her new medication could help put her illness into remission so she could return home. Fortunately, it was stopped before it reached a fatal stage.
"No worries. I cut ties with Justin. "I told her because I planned to, but I didn't go into the specifics of why.
"I'm so sorry, honey. What happened?" "She questioned
"It simply didn't work out." To reassure her that I'm okay with it, I smiled at her.
After a brief period of conversation, a nurse entered the room. "Can we speak with you for a moment, Ms. Brown? "She talked with me.
I nodded before walking into the hallway. "What is the issue?" I prompted her.
"The payment method you provided didn't work to pay the bill for the new medication. Would you like us to try again, or should we try another approach instead? " She questioned .
I exhaled a sigh. "No. The earlier approach is no longer effective. When must the payment be received?"
"By Friday, please, if we are to continue the new medication." I got her response.
I blinked. "Okay, how much does it cost?"
"The sum totals $900."
I bowed once more. "Okay I will have it by then " Tuesday gave me approximately three days, including today, to receive the money.
After that, I left to pick up my mother and head to work. Yes, it was only $900 at the time, but that only covered one prescription. There would be an even higher bill coming soon. I wasn't sure how quick I'd be because I haven't been on the street for a while.
I returned home and began getting ready for the evening. If Rick didn't work out, I kept my work clothes in case I needed them. My go-to black lace dress, which had a plunging v-neck that showed off my breasts and a length that fell to cover my butt, was on. I complemented the outfit with fishnet tights and high heels. I added a red smokey eye, winged eyeliner, and red lipstick to complete the look.
I headed down to the area where the local prostitutes congregate after getting ready. A friend Lucy welcomed me as I got closer. She had brown eyes and short burgundy hair. "Look what the cat brought in"
“Hey Lucy .” I returned the smile.
“Lover boy not work out?” She asked.
I shook my head no. “He was worse than I thought.” I responded.
She wore a worried expression on her face. "I apologize, Jules. How is your mother faring? "I had a close friendship with Lucy. She was there for me when I needed her and was aware of the specifics of my mother's illness.
"She is doing well. They are experimenting with a new medication. Therefore, I'm back here. "I described.
While we waited for clients, we caught up and entertained one another. We were diverted when a black car arrived. The moment a back window rolled down and those icy blue eyes met mine, I recognized them. Daniel Shaw . I suppose Rick’s little secret about me would no longer be kept to himself.
“Ms. Brown.” He spoke.
"Go, girl, he seems to be loaded." Lucy spoke softly in my ear.
He continued, "Please come to my car."
I approached the vehicle and joined him in the backseat. He opened his car window. He told his driver, "Cody, go until I tell you to stop."
“How can I help you Mr.Shaw ?” I questioned as I was nervous, yeah he was a stranger to me but he had ties to Rick.
"Why are you selling yourself?" He queried. His ice-blue eyes seemed to be peering into my very soul.
"I do it because I need the money," I described.
His expressionless face made him difficult to read. "I didn't think your falling so far was worth losing my nephew for," he said.
Before I met Rick, I did it. I had a contract with him that is no longer valid, so I had to return to my job." I said quietly.
His expression changed to one of confusion. "What kind of a contract?"
He was assisting with my mother's medical expenses in exchange for me being his in order to impress Michael because she is ill. "I answered.
Before speaking, he was silent for a brief period of time. "Cody, Let’s take Miss Brown back to her friend”
“Did you not want any service?” I asked.
"Not now. But to make up for the time I wasted you, I'll give you $100. He replied by removing some cash from his wallet.
I stepped out of the car as soon as his driver returned to where I had first started. Daniel spoke once more before I turned to leave." I promise to return, though."
