How madly, truly and deeply?

Fighting tooth and nail as they devour and eat me?

How I wish you'd never had to meet me?
How for years I was the best of the best,
and even now only you can beat me?
Do you know how it terrifies me?
Never realizing you were this sneaky?
How the foullest lies sound like gospel,
falling from your lips so sweetly?
I thought your love would lift me up,
but instead I've watched it defeat me.
You took a love I thought was sacred,
and you just gave it away so cheaply.
You had my soul, you were my world,
you were pristine, ever so briefly.
Now my world is a mess of shattered illusions,
it will never be put away neatly.
There will never be another lover like you,
the way you shattered me so uniquely.
