It was fully sunrise when she arrived at the mansion. As she stepped into the house hastily, the cry of baby May welcomed her.
“Lisa!” She heard Elsa Boseman’s harsh voice calling behind her.
She froze for a moment and turned slowly to see her sitting in the dining room with baby May in her arms.
“Where have you been?!” She thundered.
“Mom..Mom..I,” she stammered as she walked to the dining room.
“Speak and stop the stammering!” She yelled with her brows gathered together.
“I went to visit Rita, my friend. She was sick and there was no one to look after her. I had to take her to the hospital,” she lied.
“And you had to leave May behind?” Elsa asked angrily.
“No..mom..it was too early to take her along,” she explained and Elsa sighed.
“She needs your attention,” she said as she handed the baby over to her.
“Thank you, mother,” Melisa said with humility.
She turned and saw Daren walking down the stairs. He was dressed in a black suit and tie, with his brogue shoes leaving trails of sounds as he walked.
“Love,” she called as she walked over to meet him.
He kept silent with his gaze on her face. She could see the expressionless look on his face and she knew he was quite angry.
“Um..are..are you ready for work already?” She asked nervously.
“Yes, Um..I’m waiting for breakfast,” he replied as he walked back to the stairs and she followed after him.
“Um..did the maid bottle feed May?” She asked as they walked up the stairs.
“I did it myself. You think I will let the maids feed my baby?” He shot.
“Um..I’m sorry for the stress,” she said with a wry smile.
“How’s Rita?” He asked.
“She’s getting better,” she replied nervously.
They walked into the room and she began to undress the baby.
“Love,” he called as he sat on the bed.
“Yes, love,” she answered without looking at his face.
“Did you make a transfer of ten million naira from the account this morning?” He asked.
She gulped and raised her head to look at him.
“Oh, yes. Um..there was this expensive jewelry I saw at Rita’s place and I liked it very much. I paid for it,” she replied.
He nodded.
“Well, I’ve never known you to be a lover of expensive jewelry. Since when did you start?” He asked thoughtfully.
“Love, are you complaining right now? I thought you’ve always loved me dressing up expensively?” She asked as she sat up right.
“Yes, yes of course. I’m just quite surprised that you’re beginning to love them suddenly. You know, you never for once fancied them. You’ve always loved it, simple,” he said with a smile.
“Well, everything has changed, '' she said with a smile as she walked over to him and sat on his legs.
“You’re tempting me,” he whispered as he looked at her cleavages.
“Really?” She asked seductively as she caressed his head.
“Babe, you’re tempting me,” he cried in ecstasy with his hands resting on her bum.
She laughed and planted wet kisses on his lips. He pulled her tightly to himself and tried to kiss her roughly. She s*****d his head and stood up from his legs while laughing.
“See you, it’s just only a month and you can’t bear any longer. Come and have me if you can,” she said with laughter and he stood up and surged towards her immediately.
“Babe, stop!” She cried as he grabbed her waist and pulled her tightly to himself.
He kissed her aggressively and moved her to the bed.
“Love, I’m not yet healed. Stop,” she murmured between kisses.
They both fell on the bed with his body resting on top of hers. Just then, the baby let out a cry and he pulled away from her. They both laughed as they turned to the direction of the baby who was staring at them.
The baby stopped crying as her beautiful white eyes settled on her parents.
“See, my baby girl doesn't want you to hurt mommy,” Melisa said and they both laughed.
“I can’t wait for you to get healed. I’m losing my patience,” he said as he sat up right.
“Look at you, go and get other girls from the road side,” she said as she carried the baby.
“No, they’re not as sweet as you,” he said and she stopped abruptly.
“What! How do you know? Oh, so you’ve been having a taste of them secretly?” She asked, looking alarmed.
He burst into laughter and walked closer to her.
“Cheating on you is the last thing that would ever come across my mind,” he said with a smile and planted a kiss on her forehead.
She stayed glued to her spot and her body shook with emotions as she watched him walking to the door. He stood behind the door and blew her kisses with a charming smile on his face.
“Hurry up, don’t keep the family waiting for breakfast,” he said before walking out of the room.
She sniffed and held back her tears from falling.
“No..this is not the right time for this,” she convinced herself as she walked into the bathroom with the baby.

Breakfast was eaten smoothly and peacefully with the whole Taiwo’s family present at the table.
“Oh, stop it, Dele. You’re just as stubborn as your father,” Elsa Boseman said as she pulled the boy’s hands from the bread which he was playing with.
Everyone laughed apart from Diana whose face was as hard as a stone.
“Dotun is not stubborn compared to Daren,” Charles Boseman put in.
“Dad, I’m not stubborn,” Daren refuted and they all laughed again.
“Oh, Daren is worse. You all forgot so soon how he popped on my body the day he was born,” Selina Taiwo said with laughter and they all burst into laughter again.
Melisa smiled as she looked at her husband who was trying to defend himself. Just then, her eyes fell on Diana who was staring at her clumsily. Their eyes met and she smirked. She knew Diana had never been happy ever since May was born. Right now, she knew she had to protect her baby from this vicious woman sitting in front of her.
