CONSOLIDATION ***************************************** **************************************** AT HOME ; ... "As I lay in bed, feeling weaker by the day, I couldn't help but think about how my family had always been there for me. My mom's warm hugs and my dad's jokes had always made me feel loved and cared for. But now I was starting to feel like a burden to them, and it made me feel even worse. I didn't want them to see me like this. I wanted to be strong for them. But I was struggling.""Just then, there was a knock on the door. My mom poked her head in and said, I brought you some of your favorite soup. I thought it might help.' I mustered up a smile and said, 'That's so sweet of you, Mom. Thank you.' She set the bowl on my nightstand and sat down on the edge of the bed. 'How are you really feeling, honey?' she asked gently. I looked into her eyes and I knew I couldn't lie to her. 'Not great, Mom. I'm scared" I looked into her eyes...I just want to get better.' Tears welled...up in my eyes as I spoke, and my mom wrapped her arms around me. 'It's okay to feel scared, honey. It's normal to feel that way. But we're going to get through this together, I promise. We're all here for you.' Her words were like a balm to my soul. I knew she meant what she said. And in that moment, I felt a little bit of the weight lift off my shoulders. Even though things were hard for them too, I knew I wasn't alone." "Later that night, I drifted off to sleep. And as I slept, I dreamed of a warm, sunny day. I was walking through a field of wildflowers, and the breeze was blowing gently. As I looked around, I saw my family standing in the distance. They were waving and smiling at me, and I felt a surge of happiness and peace wash over me. In that moment, I knew everything was going to be okay. I knew that I was loved and that I would be alright." The next day, I woke up feeling a little bit better. I realized that the dream I had the night before had given me a sense of peace and hope. I decided to focus on that feeling as I went about my day. I got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. As I sat down at the table, i saw that my mom had made me my favorite breakfast - pancakes with fresh fruit. "Good morning, sweetheart," my mom said with a smile. "I hope you're feeling better today." "I am, thanks," mom i said, returning the smile. "As I finished breakfast, i thought about what I should do for the rest of the day. Maybe i could go for a walk in the park or read a book. But then I remembered something else from my dream. The group of people in the distance had been waving at me motioning for me to come closer. So I decided to do something I'd be putting off for a while. I picked up my phone and dialed a number. It rang a few times, and then a voice answered. "Hello?" the voice said. "Hi, it's Sarah," I said, feeling nervous. "Sarah, how are you?" the voice said. It was my old friend, Emma, whom I had issue with concerning my ex. I hadn't talked to her in a long time. "I'm okay, I guess," I said, taking a deep breath. "I just wanted to call and say hi. How are you doing?" "I'm doing well," Emma said. "I'm so glad you called. I've been meaning to reach out to you, but I wasn't sure how you were doing. It's been a while." I smiled, relieved that Emma didn't seem angry or upset that I hadn't called sooner. As I spoke with her I felt a weight lifting from my heart. I had hurt Ems badly It was such a relief to know she's cool with me, so even if perhaps I'd die, I'd knowing fully well I have no grudges against anyone. After a while, I and Emma had spoke about our difference and sorted everything that had been on our my mind. We decided to make plans to meet up in person soon. "I really miss you, Sarah," Emma said. "I miss you too emmy," I said "I can't wait to see you." "Me too," Emma said. "In the meantime, remember that I'm always here for you, okay...no matter what." "I will," I said, feeling grateful. "Thank you so much for being such a good friend." "You're welcome," Emma said. "Now, go and do something fun today, okay? You deserve it." I smiled. "I will," I said feeling so happy "Thanks again, Em. I'll talk to you soon." "Bye, Sarah!" Emma said. "Bye, Emma!" I hung up the phone, feeling lighter than I had in a long time. Emma and Cleo were my best friend from childhood and they understood me More than anyone else. We've been through a lot together. Well I decided to take Emma's advice and do something fun for the rest of the day. I went for a walk at the Park. ...in the park; I was enjoying the arm sunshine and the fresh air. As I walked around I thought about the memories I Emma and Cleo had. I knew that no matter what happens i would always love them. I also realized that even though my illness was difficult, it had brought me closer to the people I loved. I was grateful for that, even if it had come at a high price. As I walked, I saw a little girl playing with a ball in the park. I smiled as the girl ran after the ball, laughing and giggling. It reminded me about how we normally visited the park during highschool to have fun I just hope everything would be fine ...in my aheart. Maybe things would get better. Maybe there was still a chance for a happy ending. As the sun began to set, I headed home. I felt tired, but also at peace. I had a long road ahead of me, I also remembered the guy that I met on my way to the mall. We had exchanged contacts and planned a date next week. I just knew I was not alone. And for now, that was enough. I went to bed that night, dreaming of the future and the possibilities it held. I knew that whatever happened, i would face it with courage and strength. Because i had love, and she had hope.
