Chapter 38

1057 Words

Aisha's POV The moment my healing power surged back to life, a gasp tore from my lips. The warmth spread through my fingertips, tingling and familiar, like an old friend had returned from the dead. Relief crashed into me. And then, joy. I could save him. My hands trembled as I pressed them against Simon's chest. His blood was still warm, barely but he was slipping fast. His breathing was ragged, each inhale a desperate, failing attempt to hold on. No. Not like this. You don't get to die now. Simon lay motionless on the makeshift stretcher, his skin pale, his breathing shallow. Blood seeped through the bandages the warriors had hastily wrapped around him. The sight of him like this, broken, barely clinging to life sent a sharp pain through my chest. I couldn't lose him.
