Pinky Promise

At 4 in the afternoon, Anna left the office. She was driving her car on the way to Kindergarten. Beside her is Matthew who is eager to meet Enzo. They were not talking since Matthew was checking his emails.

They left earlier due to traffic. She didn't want to pick her son late. She already notified Gabriel she was going to pick Enzo up today.

The traffic was heavy. While waiting for the green light, Anna glanced at the man beside her. He looked very handsome on sideview. He has a thick brows, a pointed nose, thin lips, and a well defined jaws. Even Adonis would envy this man.

His Adam's apple moved while he frowned and swallowed, it made him sexier. His shoulders and muscles were...

She blushed of the thought of what happened last night. He felf those muscles on her skin. She touched those.

Beeep! Beeep!

Cars behind them were honking. Because she was watching and peeking on Matthew, she didn't noticed that the lights turned green.

"Have you seen enough, my love?" This man really knows how to tease her. This made her blush even more.

"Did you find me attractive enough to fell in love with?" he was smiling while touching her hair.

She still can't believe how the events turned so fast. From being mad with Matthew, now they were lovers... see Well, almost.

It was almost 5 in the afternoon when they reached the kindergarten. Enzo is in the swing talking with his classmates who seemed to be waiting for their parents to pick them up.

Anna and Matthew walked side by side going to the swing.

"Mommy!" Enzo ran to her upon seing her. He was on his school uniform. Although he was just 5 years old, he was independent and a mature kid. He was a cute child.

Anna sat to level her face to her Enzo's. She hugged and kissed his son. She missed him.

"Hi, baby. I missed you. How's your day?" she asked her son while holding his face between her hands.

Instead of answering her mother, he noticed the man behind her mom.

"Hi. Are you my mom's friend? he was waving his hands to Matthew.

"Hi, I am Matthew." Matthew extended his hands and ruffled Enzo's hair slightly.

"Yes, baby. He's my friend and he wants to meet you. Actually, we work together in the company." Anna explained. She didn't want to say boss because it made their gap bigger on that sense.

"Ah, okay." The boy smiled and took his mom's hands.

Not faraway from that scene, Gabriel watched the three of them. That scenario stabbed his heart although he has no right to be. His jaw tightened and he drove off.

On their way home, Enzo was full of energy. He narrated how his day went by and even the night before. He said that his daddy asked if mommy is seeing someone else.

"Mommy, daddy asked me too if it's okay if he comes home and lives with us again. I said I don't know because I know you don't want daddy home." the boy continued while playing with his lego.

Anna didn't say a word. She glanced at Matthew whose eyes went dark and loosened his tie a bit.

As the car parked, Enzo said,

"Uncle Matthew, this is our home. Mommy bought it on my 4th birthday. Come, let me show you around." the boy is excited showing Matthew their home. His excitement was seen on his eyes. He even holds Matthew's hand. Anna didn't want to live in their old house because she thought that house was filthy. After the annulment, they sold that house and she bought this one through mortgage.

"You two talk while I prepare dinner." said Anna to his son then looked at Matthew and smiled. Matthew smiled back.

Anna changed her slippers and went to the kitchen. While Enzo brought Matthew to his room and showed him his toys.

"Uncle Matthew, do you like my mom?" the boy asked away. Although he is 5 years old, he is smart and a little mature for his age. "Are you going to be my Stepdad?" he added while they were playing with his legos.

Matthew was amazed of how smart this little boy is.

He smiled. "What do you think, Enzo?" He asked back. He was eagerly looking at the boy and waiting for his response.

After a while, Enzo said...

"I guess so. Mommy never introduced me to anybody before." Enzo looked up and looked at Matthew. He added,

"...And I think mommy likes you, too." he said looking at him. He then got back to building his lego tank.

Matthew smiled. Yeah, right. She liked him, too. Although she didn't not say it, he felt it. She likes him too.

"How about you, Enzo? Do you think you can like me, too?" he asked away, gauging the boy's reactions.

"I think you're a good guy. I wanted mommy to be happy. I don't like her to be sad all the time." Even though he was little that time, he knew that her mom was hurt and lonely.

He couldn't imagine how hurt Anna was at that time. He felt heavy in his heart.

"I promise, I will make your mom happy. I will never hurt her. I will love her and you, too, Enzo. I promise." he said sincerely with his right hand swearing up in the air.

"Let's do the pinky promise." Enzo and Matthew intertwined their pinky fingers. Matthew was both amazed and sincerely happy right now. He likes this boy. A very sensible child indeed.

Ding! Dong!

Anna wasn't expecting any visitor at this hour. She removed her apron and went to answer the door.

"Gabriel... What are you doing here?" Anna asked Gabriel. He was nervous by his sudden appearance. He usually text first. He looked gloomy, not the Gabriel she used to love before.

"Hi, Anna. I... Uhm.. just wanted to see Enzo." he said. His eyes were everywhere. He seemed to be looking for Enzo.

"He's upstairs. What's up? Wasn't he was with you last night?" Anna didn't like what Gabriel was doing. What was he up to?

Matthew heard someone downstairs. He stopped talking and listened to the voices. Enzo noticed it too.

"Daddy?" Enzo said.
