Chapter 7- Disobediant

Moonlight and I ran behind the pack village, over the bridge and into the woods. We followed the stream as it curved to the North and we followed it until it opened into a lake. Then I stopped. The forest and open space gave me peace. I felt like I could breathe for the first time since I arrived back here. The water was so inviting that I decided to return to my human form and let the cool water soothe my bare skin. That.... Wasn't good. Moonlight told me referring to what had happened back at the pack. I know, I replied.. He's going to be pissed. Moonlight said talking about Archer. I know. I replied again and I was actually worried. He was an Alpha. He wouldn't let a public display of disobedience go unpunished. Even if he was struck by a sense of mercy and wanted to let it go, he simply couldn't. The only person who could disobey her alpha and go unpunished is the Luna. All wolves understood the unique power the Luna had over her alpha that no-one else did. She was the one exception. But he had not claimed me as his luna and in fact was hiding our mate bond from anyone who didn't already know. So to let it go would be showing weakness and making his position as alpha vulnerable. I had to learn how to suppress the part of me that, as a destined luna, was bold enough to try to treat him as an equal. I frowned to myself. It would be easier if he just rejected me. Moonlight said nothing as I thought of this. She knew that she was a big part of what caused us to act the way we did with him. She was a luna wolf and it was difficult for her to accept a lesser position within the pack especially the very pack she was supposed to be luna of. Another reason why even just being away from here would be better. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realise at first that I was no longer alone. The hair on the back of my neck raised as I felt their presence. They were too close. I should have noticed them sooner. f**k. I felt the air shift as they lunged and I immediately threw myself under the water, shifting into Moonlights form as I did so. We emerged from the water, enraged and with our white fur dripping wet. We growled as our gaze pinpointed the Rogue wolf who had dared attack us. Despite his wolf form, Moonlight recognised the smirk on his face and she heard the taunt in his howl "You shouldn't stray so close to the borders Little wolf, didn't your alpha tell you it was dangerous" I felt that his intentions had been to pin me in my human form and r**e me with his wolf. I was disgusted. "You misunderstand," we replied. "It's you who should be frightened." We lunged at him, our powerful forms knocking him to the ground. He whimpered and I knew he had called for reinforcements. For a moment I considered calling Archer but bringing him into the trouble I was in after disobeying him would only land me in greater trouble. So I dispatched of the young Rogue by digging my teeth into his neck. But then I felt the presence of three new unknown wolves. I turned to face them. One was pitch black and particularly large. It watched me with interest, power radiating from it. Two smaller brown wolves stood beside it. One female and one male. The male disinterested but the female was enraged and I sensed that the male I had just dispatched had meant something to her. The black wolf spoke aloud with a gruff "How interesting, I have not seen this wolf in his pack before" "Why should it matter" the female replied. " let's kill her and have it be done with" "It matters because she's clearly powerful." I watched the exchange carefully, my figure hunched and prepared for battle. Although one wolf is easy prey for me now, I wasn't sure that I wanted to go up against three on my own and the black wolf in particular was a concern. He was twice the size of Moonlight. He looked like an Alpha. Suddenly, I felt another presence behind me and then there was a growl that sent a shiver down my spine. 'Someone has came to defend his territory. Let's go for now' the black wolf said. "But... But we can't just let her LIVE" the female spluttered and she stared at their fallen packmember at my feet. "Come" the black wolf commanded her and I could tell it was laced with the power of an Alpha. But how was that possible? They were gone by the time Archer reached me. It had been his growl. His wolf sniffed the air and growled once again. I knew that his first growl was at discovering the rogues in his territory, the second at discovering they had gone and the next growl was for me. Moonlight and I bowed our head in submission and showed our necks. Then the air shifted and became charged with desire as Archers Wolf sniffed us with interest. To my surprise, his wolf licked us. Multiple times across our face and ears. I sensed that although his wolf was angry as us, he was satisfied with us as his mate. Which meant the rejection came from Archer though I had suspected as much. The mate bond was stronger in wolf form. Moonlight was trying to contain herself on my behalf but it was difficult. Then, Archer shifted. He was naked. This shouldn't have bothered me as wolves were accustomed to nakedness but this was Archer. "Shift," he commanded. I balked. I did not think it was a good idea to be naked with Archer. "I told you to shift Goddammit. Don't test my patience further Lena." He had used his alpha tone and though I could try to resist, I didn't. I shifted trying to cover myself with my hands as best as I could and also trying to keep my gaze raised. Archer froze, his eyes briefly skimming across my body and becoming heated. But it lasted a moment. "Goddammit" he muttered and stormed over to a tree next to where he had emerged from. He threw me a shirt. "put this on, " he commanded. I did as asked, realising that it was one of Archers shirt. He must have carried it in his mouth as a wolf, likely for himself to use but now he had gave it to me. It covered me like a dress. When I let Archer know that he could turn back around, he growled at me once again but this time I couldn't figure out why. But his eyes, his green eyes were full of heat and something else... Anger. A lot of anger. He grabbed my wrist and, still naked himself, pulled me through the woods and back to the pack house. I honestly didn't know if he was going to try to kill me or f**k me. It shames me to admit that physically, I was both scared and aroused. When we got to the pack house, he left me in his office without a word. When he came back, he was dressed in a t-shirt and joggie bottoms which were doing nothing to hide his bulge. I closed my eyes and scolded myself for getting distracted. "What. Do. You. Think. You're. Playing at?" he asked, punctuating every word as he spoke. When I didn't reply, he said, "First you f*****g disobey me in front of everyone and that was after trying to hide your true abilities in combat which is as bad as a LIE. THEN you disobey me once again and nearly get yourself killed!" The comment about lying mommentarily broke the spell he seemed to have on me and I stuck out my chin."I don't want to be here, I've told you that. I want to return to my pack." "This. Is. Your. Pack," he countered, his voice low and dangerous as he stepped closer to me. "I am your Alpha." He was taller than me and so, as he got closer, our bodies almost touching, he towered over me. He looked down at me and the renewed heat in his gaze told me that he could glance at my chest between the shirt. My skin seemed to prickle under his attention like there was static electricity. Archer sighed and stepped away from me. "I have tried to be kind Lena given what happened the last time you were here all those years ago but my kindness has a limit" He sat in the chair behind his desk and folded his hands in front of his lap. "First, you're going to tell me step by step everything that happened and everything that was said. Then, we'll discuss your punishment."
