CHAPTER 12 She sat silent as the Jeep pulled out of Billy’s auto shop parking lot. She was thankful she was warm finally, but didn’t even know what to say to Kris. The aroma from the dinner he’d picked up for them teased her senses. Her stomach growled loudly, breaking the silence. “Hungry?” Kris asked with a grin. He must’ve heard her stomach. “Yeah.” She sat looking out the window, watching the snow as they drove along the backroads. Farms lined the road, with not much to look at.
