Chapter Nine A Walk In The Forest All hope of a return to her former life passed from the unhappy woman when she heard the boats engine’s grumble to life. She watched forlornly as Estaban gave the bow of the boat a push with a long pole. The boat swung out into the water and began to turn downstream. The fat, blond man was piloting it and, after Estaban hopped on the stern as it started to float away from the riverbank, he turned and gave her a happy wave of his hand. Within moments, the boat had disappeared from sight. Margie listened despondently and tearfully as the sound of the boat’s engines faded.
