Chapter Eleven

Chapter eleven  4 o'clock had rolled around and it was time to leave. Luckily the rain had held off on its attempt to almost reck our day. I had expected the girls to start a hissy fit over it but when we told them we had to go, they simply shrugged and carried their obviously tired bodies up the beach.  Noticing that they were just too sleepy, Eddie passed me the bags and picked them both up. Within seconds, they were fast asleep on him. I smiled as I followed his lead all the way back to the car in the car-park. 'Hey, can you go in my pocket and get the keys?' He asked, turning to the side. I put the bags under my arm and leaned forward to grab them. Once I had them, I opened the car for him, and walked to the boot, putting all the stuff inside, and Eddie putting the girls in the back seat and making sure they were safely in, he closed the door and we both got in.  As he started the car, the rain started to fall.  'So, your going to see Adam today, isn't it a little late to get there now?' He randomly started a conversation. I shrugged. I don't want to go there, but after today's strange events then I wanted to just make sure I knew exactly where he's supposed to be. Which wasn't here. 'No, though, I should probably make sure it's OK. Do you mind if I call?' I didn't really need his say so, but it was rude of me to just do it without asking. He waved his hand saying it was cool and I dialled the number. 'Hello?' I strong voice asked on the other end. 'Hi, this is Megan Stevens I was hoping to speak to my husband if that's possible?' The was silence. 'Hello?' 'Oh sorry, Yes, what's your husband's name?' 'Adam'. 'Adam?' Was this guy an i***t. Rolling my eyes, losing my temper very easily. I waited for the answer I knew was coming. 'Adam Stevens'. 'Oh, yeah, sure, hold on'. I head him put the phone down and call around for Adam in the background. There was talk, but then someone picked up the phone. 'Hello?' It wasnt Adam. It was Beckett. 'Meg?' 'Beck. What the hells going on, where is he?' 'Adam's not here. We don't know where he is. He's just gone. He was going on about coming home'.  'Beck, he needs to be there. He's supposed to be there. Isn't there any way you can get hold of him?' 'No. Megan, he's coming home and he's not happy when I last saw him. In fact, I can't blame him'. What was that supposed to mean? 'You lied to him. You lied to the girls. We know ok, so just stop. I suggest you get home and wait, I mean it ok'. I was almost an order. I swallowed hard. 'Yeah, o-ok'. Beck said bye and hung up. I took the phone away from my eye and froze there and then. Eddie looked at me with a weird expression. 'You ok?' 'No, that was Adam at the beach.' 'Why's that a problem?' 'Because he knows I lied. They all do'. He doesn't understand it. 'Whats the worst that can happen. How big was the lie. Small?' I shook my head. 'Big'. I shugged. 'It will be fine. Dont worry.' 'Eddie, you don't understand anything about the past between me and Adam or anyone of the guys'. His expression went confused again. 'Bad things have happened. Really bad thing'. 'Like what?'. I thought about it. I could trust him right?. 'Well, a few months after I moved here........'
