The Dae I Fell In Love

Episode 2: The One With The WeekDae.

"Are you insane?!"

Sammy, my road manager, screamed as he suddenly hit the brakes of the van to turn and look at me.

"Are you insane?! I could've died!" I screamed back as I steadied myself back up and pulled on the seat belt and fastened it this time.

"I'm sorry." He apologized before returning his attention back to driving. "But why did you agree? It's the WeekDae!"

"I know."

"Do you really, though?"

"Yes, I know. Are you doubting my acting abilities?"

"Of course not! It's just that I'm worried for you. They have the most vicious fans."

"That's why I'm asking for your help. You're a fan, right? Tell me everything you know about them so I can decide strategically who to choose as my loveteam." I said matter-of-factly. When he still didn't reply, I unfastened my seatbelt, and I leaned over to put my chin on Sammy's shoulder. "Please?" I tried to dazzle him with a pleading smile.

"Ugh! Fine! If you can make a gay guy like me swoon with those antics of yours then I guess you really do have a chance of turning idol fans into loveteam fans." He exaggerated rolling his eyes before shooing me away. I smiled triumphantly as I got back to my seat.

"But why do you need to choose among them? Isn't it a reality dating show and aren't the Daes the ones to choose who'd they date?" He looked at me over the rearview mirror with a raised eyebrow. "Wouldn't it be easier to just seduce all of them, so you'd have more chances of finding a loveteam?"

I scoffed at my manager and friend. "I'm not stupid, and I don't have a death wish!" I shook my head at the thought of me trying to get all members of an idol group to date me.

"Reality dating shows aren't that different from dramas. Though there aren't scripts, there's still staging. If I act cute with every guy there, the girls will paint me as a villain and people would label me as a slut. Besides, I can't anger the fans of every single member of WeekDae. Converting one fandom is arduous enough, I don't need to make enemies of them all thank you very much!"

Sammy ooh-ed and nodded in agreement.

"So, their profiles please!" I asked as I took out my phone to take notes.

Sammy cleared his throat before going into fan-girl mode.

"Okay, first-of is Moon Dae, 18 years old and stands at 5'11. He's the group visual and center, he sings and dances really well. Next is Tiu Dae, also 18, 5'10 in height, he's the main rapper of the group and he's mad hot! He used to be an underwear model before he got scouted as an idol. Woden Dae is another hottie. He has the best vocals, and he can play a lot of instruments! He's 17, same age as you, and stands 5'10 tall."

I opened my phone's browser to look for WeekDae's group photo. All of them are good looking indeed. And Tiu and Woden do have the nicest figure with their ripped bodies.

"The fourth member is cutie Thor Dae, he's the youngest at 16 and the most talented! He composes most of the group's songs and he can sing, dance, play the piano, guitar, and cello! But like I said, he's cute. He's the shortest too at 5'7."

5'7 is not that short but for a girl like me who's 5'6 and likes to wear 3 inches heels, it would seem so.

"And last but not the least, Frigg Dae." Sammy sighed dramatically and fanned himself before continuing and I just had to smile at his over-the-top reactions. "Although he's the oldest -he's already 19, he's super good-looking, he's 5'11 tall and those dimples! Argh! That's what makes his smile a killer! He's the group's best dancer. He also raps and he has the deepest voice! Oh, please choose him!"

I laughed.

"On second thought, don't choose him, he's my bias. Don't you dare take him away from me!"

I giggled some more before I schooled my face into a serious expression.

"Sammy, I could have Googled all of that. What I want to know is the insider scoop. You managers talk among yourselves, right? I want you to spill the tea on them. What's their personality like? Their likes, dislikes, hobbies, family background? Those things will be the determining factors of how difficult it is to approach them."

"Oh right, right! Well...as you know they aren't related; they just happen to have the same last names. Except for Tiu and Thor, they're second cousins."

"Oh really? Now that you mention it, they do kind of look similar." I said as I zoom in the group's photo on my phone to see Tiu and Thor closely together.

"Tiu and Thor come from a wealthy family. There's a rumor that Thor's father is the real owner of the record label they're signed in. He's got an older brother who's already married with 2 children and the CEO of a tech company. Tiu on the other hand has a younger sister who's training to be an idol too, their parents live abroad. I think their father is a lawyer there. Woden also comes from a wealthy family. He's an only child, his parents are divorced, his mom owns a hotel while his dad is the CEO of a yacht company. Frigg also has a younger sister and a younger half-brother. His father died in an accident and his mother remarried to a wealthy businessman. Moon is self-made. As far as I know, he's an only child too. He's raised by a single mother who owns a small noodle shop in a small town. Aside from helping in his mother's shop in the province, he did other odd jobs here in the capital just to support himself and his mother. It's in one of those jobs that he was scouted."

I tapped on my phone to open a notes app and take out the stylus to jot down everything Sammy said. I find it easier to write than to type. So far, the best candidates to approach are Tiu and Frigg because they have younger sisters. If I act cute enough, I can remind them of their sisters.

"What's Tiu's and Frigg's relationship to their sisters like? Are they close?"

"Hmm...I think Frigg is close with his sister. But Tiu? I'm not so sure. There's definitely sibling rivalry rumors about them especially because they're signed under different agencies."

I crossed out Tiu's name and put a star on Frigg's.

"Okay, what about their personalities?"

"Moon is the cold but sincere type, he's hard-working and I don't think he has any interest in dating right now. He's too focused on his career to provide for his family."

I put an asterisk beside Moon's name. A hard worker who values money might be helpful.

"Tiu is your typical bad boy. A real ladies' man. There are a lot of dating rumors about him and some models."

I crossed out Tiu's name for the second time.

"Woden has this boy-next-door vibe. He's outgoing and friendly. He's the complete opposite of Thor who is really quiet. He's shy but he's passionate. He's very talkative if he likes the topic."

"Wait, who's talkative?"

"Thor. Talk to him about his interests to unlock his talkative side."

"What are his interests?"

"Music composition, all kinds of video games and outer space. He said he wanted to be an astronaut if he weren't an idol."

I nodded as I put a question mark beside Woden's name and wrote 'music, games, stars' next to Thor's.

"Frigg is funny and charming. He's definitely the boyfriend material if you ask me. He's a gentleman and he's very zen. Not many people know about this, but he once had a dating scandal with a B-list actress." Sammy lowered his voice as if afraid someone might hear him. The i***t. I had to scoot over closer to hear him more clearly.

"Rumor has it, that he met this actress back when he was still trying out theater and got her pregnant. The actress never got to debut because of the alleged pregnancy. Frigg denies this of course and said that the actress was just a childhood friend and that the rumors were groundless. When confronted by the agency, he said that the rumors were probably spread by the girl's real boyfriend to tarnish his name because he has always been jealous of him and the guy wanted to avoid his responsibility on the baby."

Interesting.

I put another star beside Frigg's name. If this rumor is true, then I have found my loveteam. He's good-looking, agreeable, and most importantly, has a background in acting. If he really did get that girl pregnant and managed up to this day to keep it a secret and make it seem like a baseless rumor, then he is really good at acting.

The kind of good that is needed of a loveteam.
