A CHILD ON THE ROAD.
Emma's POV.
"Really?" My mum finally spoke up again and I nodded.
"Yes, be expecting me and please tell Daddy and brother, that I am very sorry for not listening to them."
"Oh my God! My prayers has been answered. Bless you, baby. Would you be coming back with Gina?" She asked and I chuckled.
"No mum. She is not mine." I told her and ended the call before my mum started to scream and ask me any more questions.
Olivia heard everything I had just discussed and her eyes looked like they were about to pop from their eye sockets.
"Wait! Don't tell me you never knew your daughter was dead and that you actually raised someone else's child?" She screamed, finally putting two and two, together.
I laughed, arranging my hair as I walked towards my car, not giving her an answer.
"Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Williams." I heard someone call me and I flinched.
Mrs. Williams? I used to be so proud to bear this title but now, all I wanted to do was puke and have it washed off my background.
"Please, miss Emma." I told Dr. Frank who came running towards me and he looked taken aback, by my words.
"Alright. Your daughter has been screaming for you, throwing a tantrum in her ward. Please go and calm her down." Dr. Frank said and I felt the urge to slap him across the face but calmed myself down.
"Oh wow! I think you should get her biological mother for that, though." I told him and he went pale, lost for words but I didn't care because Vera was none of my concern anymore.
Even when loving and taking care of her, I felt frustrated by her rudeness and hideous attitude but now that I know she isn't mine and even boldly picked Vera over me, then she should call for her and leave me, alone.
Because of her, I turned myself into someone unrecognizable. Working my butts off, just to get her the things she needed so I wouldn't inconvenience Derek, who never looked at me twice again.
'I neglected myself and my body, all because of them. Left my life of luxury to adjust to one of hardships.' I thought as I bit my lower lips hard, tears rolling down my cheeks.
I met Derek in College and despite he being a pauper, I was ready to love and cherish him. I didn't want him to be oppressed by my wealth, so I started cutting my parents off.
They didn't want me to be with him, they wanted me to marry someone else. An unknown dude with a few months old baby. His wife had just died in a plane crash.
I refused, believing my parents wanted to toss me off for some business deal so I ran and never looked back, despite they, trying to reach out for me.
My dad got angry and disowned me while my mum kept reaching out but because I loved Derek so much and he made me believe that he felt the same way, I refused to have anything to do with my family, even when my brother fell ill.
I didn't want Derek to risk finding out my true origin and start looking down on himself. I shrunk myself so he could stand tall and I hated it so much.
When I got home, I hurriedly placed a call to my lawyer to draft out the divorce proceedings and have it sent to Derek, because I was done sacrificing myself for a family, that wasn't even mine anymore.
My lawyer, Joel, was way too happy to help as I packed my things and drove out of the house, without looking back.
But first, I decided to go to Derek's office and demand to know why he did everything, he did to me.
Why did he hurt me so much when all I had ever shown him was love, loyalty and honesty?
I closed my eyes to calm myself and opened it to see a chubby, little girl running onto the road, in front of my vehicle.
My heart pounded heavily against my chest as I hurriedly pressed the brakes to stop the car and luckily it stopped but the girl saw me almost hitting her, so her eyes widened and she collapsed onto the floor.
I immediately unbuckled my seat beat, ran out of the car and saw her laying on the floor, unconscious.
I noticed she was bleeding by the side of her head and my stomach sunk as I began to shiver.
Oh my God! How could I have hurt such a little girl?
I hurriedly got her into the vehicle and drove her to the nearest hospital to be treated. The doctor attended to her immediately, while glancing between me and the girl with curious gazes.
I had no idea why neither did I care. I just wanted the girl to be fine so I paced around the hospital hall, my head spinning as I prayed for a miracle.
Just then;
"Miss. Your daughter would be fine. You can relax now. She actually collapsed from the shock and difficulty to breathe since she is asthmatic and the bleeding is due to the heavy fall on the road. " The doctor told me as he walked over to me and I paused, but not before breathing a sigh of relief that she was okay.
"Thank you but she isn't my daughter." I told him and his eyes widened in disbelief.
"I could have been fooled. You guys look so much alike and even have similar hair." He reminded me of the white hair I saw on her head but failed to really notice because I was panicking, back then.
I licked my bottom lips, having no idea of what to say.
'Well, resemblances like that happen, right.' I thought as I felt a warm, familiar feeling fluttering in my chest.
What was this emotion?
The doctor looked like he was about to say something else when we heard a loud bang. I jolted before raising my head to see a very, familiar, tall, looking guy walk in with heavy body guards, trailing behind him.
Saliva gathered in my mouth as I racked my head for where I had seen him before and realized that he was there at the hospital, the night I gave birth.
But what is he doing here and why did he look so pissed?
