Jessie could only laugh at herself as they entered through the palace gates. She had assumed that she’d need to sneak inside as she had done to sneak outside of the palace walls. However, the palace seemed more chaotic than she’d expected, and the carriage passed through the large gates without even being stopped. At the very least, she had expected the carriage to be stopped and checked, as was typical etiquette for any carriage without the royal seal. However, there was nothing of the sort, and only two guards posted near the gate.
“This is…unusual,” she stated with a worried glance out the window.
