Then she started remembering about her past life She thought about how her life was once easy, how she once lived her life as a soft girl , how their family was popular of being happy that even people became jealous of them before her dad ran into debt in his company which made their family broken. This debt led to her father's death and that also led to her mother's sickness. Since there was no source of income for Lila, she decided to search for one with her bachelor degree as a business administrator. Along the line, she decided to search for some runs job. She was dressed in a blue short gown and her long hair well packed making her look presentable. She saw a shop with a poster "saying a cleaner is needed." She entered the shop to make some enquires about the job and the amount of money she will be receiving from the work done. "Good evening, I saw a poster at the front of your shop that requested you need a cleaner, I will be very happy if I can get thisjob." Lila said. "Yes that through, you are right we are actually in need of a cleaner but not for a girl like you" The shop owner said. "Ma, don't look at my dressing oh, if it is to work I'm really good at it , I'm capable of doing it and I promise I won't disappoint you ma" Lila said. "You can resume next week." The shop owner said to her. "So ma is the payment daily, weekly or monthly ?" she asked, "The money given weekly and the pay is 5,000 naira and then note that lateness is not accepted in my work here, once it 8'Oclock and you are not here 200 naira will be deducted from your money, I hope you understand me" The shop owner explained to her. "Yes ma I do". she replied. In Lila's mind even though the money was small compared to her former state of life, she had no choice but to accept the job. At least, it's for the main time, also as to use the little money received from the work to eat and to buy some drugs for her mother's sickness. Along the company her father was owning started disturbing them, not knowing to them that her father already used the house which was the only thing left as collateral for the debt. On a faithful day one of the company came to the house where Lila and her mother was living. " Hello who is inside this house the representative of the company said" he then knock on the door. Lila opened the door for the man "Hello please how can I help you Lila said " "I'm one of the representative of the company your father is owning said the man" He then stretch out the document of the house saying "According to my company policy debtors are giving 1 month notice to leave the house and failure to do so they will be arrested for trespass" Lila was so shocked and had nothing to say to the problem at hand, she then replied the man " Sir, please don't chase me and mother outside of this house, this is the only place we have left, there is no one to run to " I don't have any help to render for you cause not in my power it is from the authority the man said The man give the notice to Lila and left immediately. Lila was so decertain and she started crying "I have no one to run to and how will I take care of my mother? how will I secure a house with 5,000 naira only " she started crying.... Lila sat on the cold, hard floor of their modest living room, her trembling hands clutching the eviction notice. The words blurred before her eyes as tears streamed down her face. Her mother’s frail cough from the adjoining room pulled her back to the grim reality she couldn’t escape. This house, though humble, was their last sanctuary. Losing it would mean exposing her sick mother to the harsh streets. “How could things get this bad?” she whispered, her voice shaky. “Why does life keep stripping everything from me?” She stood, wiping her tears hastily, determined to appear strong before her mother. Pushing the notice into her purse, she resolved to find a way out. She had always been resilient, even when the world seemed to conspire against her. But this time, the weight of her burdens felt insurmountable. That evening, as she sat by her mother’s bedside, feeding her small spoonfuls of soup, her mother looked at her with weary but knowing eyes. “Lila, my love,” her mother began, her voice hoarse, “you’ve been carrying too much. I see how you’re struggling.” “Don’t worry about me, Mom,” Lila replied quickly, forcing a smile. “Everything will be fine. I’ll find a way.” Her mother’s hand weakly grasped hers. “You’ve always been so strong, but even the strongest need help sometimes. Promise me you won’t let pride stop you from accepting it.” Lila nodded, but deep down, she had no idea where help would come from. The next morning, a sharp knock at the door startled her awake. Rushing to answer, she found a sharply dressed man holding a briefcase standing before her. His eyes were piercing and cold, scanning her disheveled appearance with judgment. “Miss Edward?” he asked curtly. “Yes?” Lila responded hesitantly. “I am Mr. Peterson, a representative of Jasdor Corporation. My employer, Mr. Jasper Ildon, would like to discuss a proposition with you. It’s a matter of urgency.” Confused and wary, Lila invited him inside. He sat stiffly on the worn-out couch, handing her a business card and a sealed envelope. “Mr. Ildon has reviewed your situation. He believes you may be able to assist him with a matter of equal importance. If you agree to meet him, all of your current… complications will be resolved.” “What kind of proposition?” Lila asked, her tone guarded. “Details will be provided during the meeting,” Mr. Peterson replied, rising to his feet. “I suggest you consider it carefully. My employer doesn’t extend offers lightly.” As she watched him leave, Lila’s thoughts swirled with anxiety and curiosity. She had no idea what awaited her, but the promise of a solution to her problems was too tempting to ignore. Clutching the envelope tightly, she resolved to face this unknown billionaire and whatever challenges lay ahead. “For Mom,” she whispered. “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
