“Your boyfriend?” Lina’s mother repeated, her brows lifting in surprise as she looked between them again.
Lina stepped forward quickly, already shaking her head. “Uhm, mom, he’s just—”
“Nice to meet you, ma’am,” Nelson cut in smoothly, not even giving her the chance to finish.
Before Lina could react, he gently nudged her aside like she was in his way and stepped closer to her mother, his expression suddenly polite—almost charming.
“Or should I call you mother?” he added with a light smile. “Lina has told me so much about you.”
“Nelson—” Lina whispered harshly, her eyes widening.
But he was already leaning in, giving her mother a brief, easy hug like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Lina just stood there.
