Chapter FiveWednesday morning, Jack came to pester me. He was wearing his navy suit that I liked so much. Okay, so what was wrong with loving pinstripes? “So,” Jack said, leaning against my desk. Did the man not know how to be completely vertical? All of a sudden I got an image of him, me, and a wall that made me blush a bit. I fanned myself for a moment, hoping he thought it was the heat from the computer. I regretted having my hair pulled back in a smart ponytail, because I totally could have used some long hair in my face so that I could peek through to look at him. Work. Must focus on work, I reminded myself as I stared at my computer screen. Stephen’s secretary, Claire, was out sick, so I had proofed his letters and was reprinting them.
