chapter 5

Then out of the blue, came a loud growling of a wild animal that prompted Alexia back to life and she quickly opened her eyes, only to realize that she is alone and seated in the dark where she can't see anything. She collected herself together and remembered all that she has been going through all day. However, now having fresh memories of her dialogue with Grandma years ago, she was now filled with dread because she now recognized what could now be making that ugly and deadly sound from the other side. "Are they here already, just like she predicted"? Alexia whispered in the dark, fully loaded up in fear, then another emotion took over—"Guilt! "I should have tried warning the local forces and everyone at large!" she thought, but then again, another voice reminded her that even if she did, nobody would have listened to a kid talking about werewolves! Alexia knew right away that it was already too late because they were here already and must have already attacked her family, so she felt sorry for them as she sat down in the dark sobbing and shaking for what she knew was inevitable right now—death! Just as death came to her mind, giant footsteps began approaching the door from the other side and the growling sound began edging closer too. At this point, Alexia knew that it was surely over for her, but she comforted herself with the thought of joining her family in the afterlife while she waited for the creatures lurking around the door to launch her hereafter. Her sobbing increased as hot tears kept dropping down on her lap and her nose running and overflowing. Her body was shaking immensely, her teeth clattering, and her brain in crisis as her whole life flashes before her, probably for the last time. Then came the moment she had been waiting for, a weird-looking and paranormal shadow could be seen from under the door and she could now see a reflection of her predator as it reached out for the doorknob. Alexia tried to get back but couldn't as she tried to scramble to safety. A huge cupboard was in her way and it prevented her from moving backward in the dark. She tried moving it but it wouldn't budge. Still blinded by darkness, there was nowhere to run to, it made her feel so helpless as the predator is now turning the knob to get in and devour the last prey available in the house. Alexia just sat down and stared in horror as the door slowly swung open, she couldn't keep her head up out of anxiety, so out of impulse, she brought her head down, waiting patiently to be devoured by the barbaric creature. While her little heart beat faster and Alexia, fully petrified while she sat in the dark with her life obviously on the line, she knew at that minute that the werewolf was about to step in, so she said a prayer in her heart as she could feel the creature glaring at her in the dark with its fiery eyes which emitted heat wave to her skin and greedily getting ready to explore its prey. But what the creature did next, Alexia wouldn't have thought it to be possible!... ….. she knew a lot about werewolves, but she never saw this next move coming!.....not even Grandma would!
