Chapter 4

MASON'S POV I stood in front of the sink, in the only bathroom this house had and looked down at my shirt soaking in water. How stupid could one person be, wearing a white shirt while eating f*****g meatballs? I looked around the bathroom, remembering the childhood I'd had when I visited my grandparents. I looked down at the floor with broken and chipped tiles. It hadn't always looked like this. I looked up to the baby blue walls and noticed how it flaked off the walls. This was due to using the wrong kind of paint in a room that was always damp and moldy. Memories started flooding back to when I was a child. My sister and I had played Hide and seek. I was the one seeking. We were so little at the time. She decided that the best place to hide would be the toilet. Yes. The toilet. She decided to get into the toilet feet first and slithered down. She got in quite easily. It was when she had to get out. Her small hips got stuck and she couldn't get out. She panicked before I even approached the bathroom. When I entered, I remembered seeing the shock on her face and I just blew out the biggest laugh I had ever had. There was my sister, stuck in the toilet. Inside the actual white throne. Holy s**t, that was funny. I stared at my reflection in the mirror, which brought me back to the present and brushed my dark hair out of my face, thinking about what had just happened in the kitchen. I took off the rest of my clothes and hopped into the shower. I turned on the shower and adjusted it to the perfect temperature. I enjoy the water a little cooler than most. Dipping my head under the Spray of the shower, I was consumed once again by what had happened between Alina and I. Was she checking me out? She had to have been, given how uncomfortable she got when I noticed. She seemed sweet and hot as hell. Her beautiful dark brown locked hair, her blue eyes that pierced through me when we locked eyes. Her rosy full lips that drew a breath when I touched her shoulders. No, I thought, shaking my head and looking down at the water swirling into the drain. But, I couldn't help thinking about her again. She was about to hyperventilate as it seemed to me. But why? Was I the one who took the breath away from that slender, almost considered short Goddess of a woman who was probably still standing in the kitchen? My eyes wandered down and I was caught by surprise. I have a hard on? If I were to invite her in here, would she? I could just imagine the scenario. Alina getting into the shower, all shy and uncertain. Or maybe she would be confident. I could only imagine the kind of body she had underneath those clothes. Looking at her ass in those leggings, I was pretty sure I would be pleasantly surprised. I started laughing at myself. Standing here in the shower, thinking about a girl who was supposed to look after my Gran and I had a f*****g hard on. But that thought was quickly fogged by annoyance as I remembered Andrea. She was my super serious girlfriend, currently at college studying some s**t in the beauty industry. It definitely came in handy when she gave me a massage. Alina was going to leave soon anyway. For some reason, none of the nurses lasted longer than a week. How hard is it to look after such a wonderful woman who has always been there for me throughout my entire life? I knew none of them knew her personally but they were trained to handle just this. But still, I couldn't stop thinking about the way Alina looked up at me, completely taken aback. With her face as red as I've ever seen anyone blush. Maybe I misread the whole situation because of how f*****g attractive this girl was. “No.” I said under my breath. I have a lot to deal with. My Gran having stage 4 cancer. The fact that I haven't spoken to her in weeks. The fact that my parents sent me here because all the nurses kept leaving, none of whom even looked close to Alina. Wow! That's the first time I remembered any of their names. Focus Mason! I muttered to myself. I can't get even slightly attached to someone who referred to my Gran as ‘the old lady’. My heart sank when I heard a shriek coming from the kitchen. What the hell now? I turned off the water and hopped out. Getting back into my jeans and headed towards the door. I opened the bathroom door and stalked towards the kitchen where Alina was standing in front of the pantry door, clearly shaken. “What happened?” I asked, clearly confused as to why Alina was staring at the pantry like it was talking to her. Startled by my sudden presence she quickly turned around and looked at me. An uneasy feeling struck me when I looked at her face. She seemed pale. Like all the blood had left her face. Something scared the s**t out of her. I looked around the kitchen but I couldn't see what could have possibly upset her like this. She looked like she'd seen a ghost. I took another step towards her, glancing down quickly to make sure my hard on wasn't still there. That would have been quite the debacle. I asked her once again what the hell happened. She looked up at me and I noticed her eyes wandering my torso and I smirked. Even in her scared appearance, she couldn't keep herself from looking at me. She shook her head and locked eyes with me once again. Finally she answered. “N-nothing. I… It Must have been the wind. Sorry for scaring you. I didn't mean to scream.” while glancing back at the pantry door. The wind? What the hell is she talking about? I stared at the party door confused. Alina drew out a deep sigh and hurried out the kitchen towards her bedroom. Before leaving the kitchen, I gave one last look at the Pantry. What did she mean? I wanted to follow her to her bedroom, just to make sure she was okay. I wasn't sure what happened but it seemed to have really shaken her. I stood in front of her bedroom door, lifting my arm so that I could knock and took a moment. What if she wanted to be alone now? She wouldn't have left if she wanted to be in someone's company. Should I go in?
