Serena's POV My entire body still trembled as I stumbled out of the building, glancing over my shoulder, heart pounding in my chest like a wild animal trying to escape. Each footstep felt heavy, reminding me of the danger lurking just behind. I expected to see a shadow chasing after me, ready to pounce at any moment. My breath came in frantic gasps, and I fought to hold back tears that threatened to spill over. My hand trembled uncontrollably as I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and it was hard to place my fingers on the right spots on the screen to call a taxi. Each passing second felt like an eternity, and the weight of fear pressed down on me, making it impossible to stand still. My frazzled nerves began to calm as soon as a taxi turned onto the dark street and stopped beside me.
