Even if she was meant to die, I enjoyed playing with her a little. Since she accepted the role, I entertained the thought that she might be a good driver who could actually survive. Chloe wanted her to die, and although Chloe was a good friend of mine, I could find reasons to keep Serena alive, fulfilling Chloe's wish in another way. But the truth was, I had no other choice either; I needed someone.
Still, I held onto a glimmer of hope that Serena would finish the race. If she did, she might be desperate enough to accept my offer to work with me for money to pay for her daughter's treatment.
