Miss Macaulay

“Hi good morning”, a male voice embraced me as I opened the door. He was wearing a pure white T-shirt and black trousers with a white Nike canvas didn’t know who the guy was. “Yes... How may I help you?”, I asked looking at his wristwatch, obviously he was rich but I was still confused why he showed up at my house. “I’m looking for Rona, I’m her boyfriend”, he just burst my bubble. “Oh!”, that was all I could say. “Is she home?”, he asked, watching me shake my head. “Mr. Handsome or is it?”, I just stood there eagerly expecting the ground to open up and swallow this nigga. “The name’s Rodney”, he looked left and right and sniffed hard. I hummed silently. “When she gets back I’ll let her know you were here”. “You look beautiful”, he said putting his hands in his pockets. “I don’t understand this conversation...”, I tried to speak when he cut in, “You’re even prettier than your friend”. I already felt disgusted at him. “It’s obvious you don’t have anything good to say, please leave”. “Do you really want me to leave honey?”, he said, cupping my face as I annoyingly pushed his hands. I slammed the door against his stupid face. ‘f**k!”, I screamed. “What the hell just happened now?”, I thought. I should probably tell Rona about this. I went back into my room to get dressed for my appointment. I was meeting with someone, I wouldn’t classify him as a friend though we attended the same college. He worked for ‘Andela’, one of the biggest global job placement for software developers. He was going to introduce me with his manager today. I was nervous because this was my first job since I graduated from college two years ago. Rona used to work part-time during college but now she has been employed full-time. It’s nice they pay her well. I sorted out through my wardrobe. I brought out an all white T-shirt and a short black skirt. I wasn’t a fan of long dresses, so yeah. I creamed by body and did my makeup before I got dressed. I put on an black heels. I looked great. I added some body spray to smell nice, point of view I don’t go anywhere without using my body spray. There was still time to shove some food down my throat. So, I ate the leftover Avocado toast I made earlier. I cleaned my mouth and drank some water. I grabbed my car keys and phone and left the house. I couldn’t be more pleased looking at my new car. It was a Tesla model S, color white. Worth $90,000. My father was wealthy, what did you expect? I smiled and hopped in. Woah!... the company was absolutely looking good. I parked my car and walked in. “Miss. Macaulay”, I heard a voice as soon as I got to the entrance. “It’s such an honor to see you”, a gentleman approached me offering a handshake. “I’m sorry, have we meet?”, I questioned with a smile. “My apologies... I’m Williams Stanford. Your father and I were good friends. So to what do I owe this lovely surprise?”, he said as he gave a slight bow. “I came to see a friend. He was going to introduce me to the manager of this company who’s likely to hire me”, I said. “Your luck... I am the manager”, he said pleasantly. “Ohhh”, I was surprised. “Of course James told me all about your tech skills and I have to say I’m impressed so how can I say no to you? You’re hired Miss Macaulay”, he said walking slowly to the entrance. “I really appreciate”, I blush. “My regards to your father, have a great day”, he waved before disappearing into the fancy door. “Well that went easy”, I muttered to myself. “Sorry I’m... a minute late”, James said hurriedly approaching me as he stepped down from his good looking SUV. “Let’s get you to the manager right away, I don’t have much time to spend”. “Actually... I just met him a few seconds ago”, I said. “So what did he say?”, he asked looking at me and swinging his car keys. “I’m hired”, I said again. “Well congrats. What do you want to do with the rest of your afternoon?”, he looked at me feeling nervous. “I was hoping to go back home and sleep cos I don’t have...”, I stopped, not wanting to embarrass myself any further. He laughed. “Do you mind lunch?”. “I just ate an hour ago”, it was the truth. It wasn’t like I didn’t want to go though. “Oh!...”, he felt ashamed. “We can have a drink or two?”, I smiled. “That’s great... I’ll drive”, he said walking to the parking lot, “So whose car do we take?”. “We can use mine... so I’ll go home from there”, I insisted. We entered my car and I watched him start the engine. It’s been years since I saw him honestly. The air was cool and I just sat in the passenger’s seat smiling as I looked at the building were I’d soon be working.
