Rain poured heavily as Isabella stood frozen beside the black Rolls-Royce.
Water soaked her wedding dress, washing away her makeup and the dreams she had cherished for years.
The elderly man stepped out of the car.
Although his hair was completely white, his posture was straight and dignified. His expensive suit and the bodyguards surrounding him made it obvious he was no ordinary man.
He looked at Isabella with eyes full of sorrow.
"Miss Isabella Hart?" he asked gently.
Isabella nodded cautiously.
"Who are you?"
Instead of answering, the old man took off his glasses.
Tears filled his eyes.
"My name is Edward Lancaster."
"I've been searching for you for twenty-three years."
Isabella frowned.
"I'm sorry... I think you've mistaken me for someone else."
Edward shook his head.
"No."
"I finally found my granddaughter."
Her heart skipped a beat.
"What?"
"I'm not your granddaughter."
"My grandfather died before I was born."
Edward slowly reached into his coat and removed an old photograph.
It showed a beautiful young woman holding a newborn baby.
The woman looked exactly like Isabella.
"That's..."
"My mother..."
Edward smiled sadly.
"Her name was Amelia Lancaster."
"She was my only daughter."
Isabella's breathing became uneven.
"My mother's name was Amelia Hart."
Edward closed his eyes.
"She changed her surname after running away from home."
"Your mother fell in love with a man I didn't approve of."
"I made the biggest mistake of my life."
"I forced them apart."
"But she refused to leave him."
"So she disappeared."
"I searched for her for years."
"When I finally found her..."
"...she had already passed away."
A tear rolled down Isabella's cheek.
"My mother..."
Edward nodded slowly.
"I was too late."
"But before she died..."
"She gave birth to you."
Silence filled the air.
Edward continued.
"I promised myself that one day I would find you."
"And today..."
"I finally have."
Isabella's eyes filled with tears.
"If that's true..."
"Why didn't you come sooner?"
Edward lowered his head.
"Someone hid your identity from me."
"They made me believe you had died as a baby."
"But a few weeks ago..."
"I discovered the truth."
"And I came immediately."
Before Isabella could respond...
One of Edward's bodyguards rushed forward.
"Chairman!"
"We have a problem!"
Edward turned.
"What happened?"
The bodyguard looked serious.
"The Hart family has just announced to the media that Miss Isabella is no longer a member of their family."
"They've officially disowned her."
Edward's gentle expression disappeared.
His eyes became cold.
"So..."
"They threw away..."
"The only heir to the Lancaster Empire."
Everyone around him fell silent.
Isabella looked confused.
"Heir?"
Edward smiled softly.
"My dear..."
"The Lancaster family owns one of the largest business empires in the world."
"And from today..."
"Everything I own..."
"Belongs to you."
Isabella's heart nearly stopped.
She wasn't homeless anymore.
She wasn't alone anymore.
She had just become the heir to a fortune beyond imagination.
But inside the cathedral...
Damien watched from a window.
His eyes widened as he recognized the Lancaster family crest on the Rolls-Royce.
His face turned pale.
"No..."
"It can't be..."
