Episode 26: Scandalous Proposal
Amelia stormed into Victor's study, the heavy oak door slamming shut with a resounding bang. Victor, caught up in a stack of financial reports, looked up in surprise, his dark brows furrowing.
"Amelia," he said, his voice deep and rumbling. "What is the meaning of this outburst?"
Amelia threw her hands up in the air, her emerald green eyes blazing with frustration. "The meaning? You want the meaning? Look outside! The entire city is laughing at me!"
Victor set down his papers with a sigh. The rumors of Amelia's jilting and her subsequent escape with him, his nephew, had indeed caused quite a stir. Society gossiped with relish about the scandalous union.
"Let them gossip," Victor said calmly. "Their words hold no power."
