Adrian’s voice was shaky as he spoke, barely recognizing his own words. “Why me? I’m just… me.”

Maya looked at him with a compassion that he hadn’t expected, her gaze softening. “You’ve always been different, Adrian. There’s a reason you’ve felt out of place, why you’ve questioned your purpose. You’re not just anyone, and now it’s time for you to understand why.”

“Whatever’s happening, I don’t know if I’m ready for it,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
