Cora’s pov. I backed away, hacking up a lung as a wave of heat slapped me in my face. Horror curled in my chest as I took in the scene before me. My first instinct was to turn around and run as fast as my legs could carry me. Not just because of fear of Creed; I’ve seen what that black fire of his can do, I’ve seen how it easily turned a grown man into nothing but a small pile of ash, but because I’m a siren, a creature of the water.
