I had this weird habit of watching Isabella unknown to her. There is this unfathomable and beautiful feeling that I get from doing so. It is something I have grown to love.
At this time, she was three years old and had already unlocked her powers, she kept practising the little we had taught her and was improving every day, she would grow into a determined young lady.
I stood by my usual spot; close to the door, quietly watching Isabella.
The next thing I saw made my eyes widen, Isabella was producing fire with her hands. As if sensing my presence, she turned sharply to face me.
"Mama mama did u see that" she called excitedly, her face practically beaming with joy. She is always happy, I love that about her.
"Yes baby, could you show it to me again?" I requested.
"Yes mama," she replied with a huge smile.
She clasped her little hands together, closing her eyes as she concentrated on what she was doing. She then unclaspes her hands and there it was a little flame of fire floating on her hands.
"Wow, my daughter is awesome" I praised
Her smile grew bigger.
"Do you always close your eyes when doing so?" I asked her.
"Yes" came her honest response.
"Now, let me tell you a secret, you don't have to close your eyes, you just have to blur out your surroundings, concentrate on it, become one with your spirit, and allow the energy to flow through the whole of your body and voila, you have your fire"
I unclenched my fists and a large flame of fire was floating on it.
"Wow, it's so big," she replied in awe.
"Yeah, now give it a try" I coerced her.
"Okay," she said, and that air of determination was back.
My Isabella never ceases to amaze me.
I watched as she closed her eyes, clenched her fists, and tried hard to focus, I could feel the energy flowing through her. It was really strong, no surprise there. She then opened her eyes and unclenched her fists.
I smiled. I was impressed, she did it, she produced a flame of fire, far larger than the one she had formerly produced.
She looked at me with expectant eyes, awaiting my approval.
"That was perfect, give mama a hug," I said as I crouched and spread my arms apart.
She ran into my arms giggling.
"I can't wait to show Daddy" she declared, the excitement evident in her voice.
"Yes, he'll be very proud of you"
Immediately I said that Isabella wasted no time as she ran to meet Anderson who was going through his sales book.
"Papa papa papa" she called breathlessly.
Anderson looked up from his book.
"What's going on pumpkin, you seem excited" he said, closing his sales book and paying full attention to her.
This was one of the qualities I loved about Anderson, he always has time for his family.
"Okay, so look at me okay, not mummy or anything else but me" she pointed out.
He chuckled.
"Why do you say so?" He asked.
Isabella pressed "I don't know but sometimes I see you looking at mummy the same way I do whenever I see my favourite food" She shrugged after saying this.
Jaws dropped. Both Anderson and I were surprised. I coughed choking on air while Anderson looked like a child caught in the act of stealing meat.
"Well, I do so because she's my wife and I love her so much," he replied.
I blushed at this statement.
"Does it mean you don't love me because I'm not your wife?" Isabella sulked
"If you don't love me because I'm not your wife, can I be your wife too just like Mama," she said proudly.
Anderson and I laughed loudly.
"Oh dear, what makes you think I don't love you"
Anderson suddenly froze after making this statement.
Isabella and I were confused.
"Honey," he said cautiously.
Something was wrong.
"Yes," I responded.
"Keep talking to me and don't look back, pretend like everything is okay and Isabella don't move an inch, stay put".
Isabella nodded.
"What's wrong Andy?"
"Someone is currently watching us through the window, he can't hear what we're saying because of the voice coat, I activated in our house but he can see us, Isabella is behind this large table, so he can't see her but just pretend like we're having a conversation and we don't know he's watching us" Anderson declared with a false smile on his face.
Anderson and I kept having a fake conversation but we were tense.
A few minutes later.....
Anderson heaved a sigh of relief
"He has gone," Anderson said.
"Do you think they suspect that we have Isabella?" I asked
"We've managed to keep her hidden, only a few people are aware of her existence, so I really don't know how this is possible. I've never seen his face in our territory." Anderson replied
"Neither have I"
"We have to be very careful," Anderson added.
All this while Isabella was quietly listening.
Anderson called her.
"Come here pumpkin, let me explain to you"
He did just that, he made Isabella understand what was going on in the simplest way possible."
"Promise me you'll be careful with the people you talk to and if it's a new face, someone you don't know, you won't talk to the person"
"I promise Papa, pinky promise" Isabella added.
"Now, can you show Daddy what you wanted to"
"Yes," she said with a huge smile.
Isabella explained, "So mummy taught me something and I'm going to show it to you."
Anderson nodded in agreement.
"Okay, here goes nothing"
Isabella's aura switched again.
Anderson turned to look at me surprised at the sudden change. I tried to communicate with my eyes, telling him that we would discuss it later. He understood and nodded.
Isabella clenched her fists, trying to connect with her surroundings, then she unclenched her fists.
Anderson was shocked.
"Did...did my Isabella just do this?" he said wide-eyed.
"She's growing stronger" I replied
Too strong I thought, she was able to perform what I taught her on just one trial. This is a good news and a bad news at the same time
Anderson seemed to be in deep thought.
I ushered Isabella into the kitchen, using the excuse of teaching her how to cook. I wanted to give Anderson some space to think.
I held Isabella's hands as we both went towards the direction of the kitchen.
