Anderson and I sat facing each other in silence. A heavy air surrounded both of us. Isabella was already asleep and we decided to use this opportunity to talk this out.
Anderson started breaking the silence.
"How long has Isabella been practising fire control?"
"I only thought of her this afternoon and she was able to do it."
He looked taken aback.
"Yes, I was just as Surprised as you are"
"I knew she was strong and special, but not this strong, it usually takes about a month's practice to be able to harness such and she did so in just a few minutes, and she's barely three years old" Anderson complained.
I sighed.
"We're going to meet Eleanor tomorrow," Anderson declared.
"Wait, why?...."
I continued.
"Why should we do so? I thought we were going to keep her completely hidden".
"Yes, Layla but we have to know just how strong she is and what we are dealing with here,"he pointed out.
I understood what he said perfectly.
"Okay then, don't let it bother you then, you have a big day ahead, try to get some sleep," I instructed him.
"I'll try" came his honest reply.
******
"Mama Mama, Papa's back"
That was Isabella, she had been waiting impatiently after I informed her that Anderson would be taking us out, she was so excited. We don't exactly take Isabella on outings. We've always been careful with her. I understood the way she was feeling.
"Oh, really"
"Yes," she said as she ran to welcome him.
"Someone seems excited," Anderson said as he hugged her and kissed me.
"Yes, I am," Isabella said practically grinning from ear to ear.
"Welcome honey, how was your day?" I asked.
"It went well" he replied as he went inside to change his clothes.
"Isa come help me set the table" I requested and Isabella followed me to the kitchen. We were setting the table when Isabella spoke up.
"Mama, when can I remind Daddy about our outing?"
I paused before replying.
"When he's done eating."
Okay...
We finished setting up the table and Anderson came to join us and we began eating.
Isabella seemed like she was about to burst as she impatiently waited for Anderson to finish eating before she would spill the beans.
Immediately after Anderson took the last bite of his meal, Isabella spoke up.
"Daddy when are we going out"
"Isa... that's bad manners, you should allow him to settle down, allow his food to digest before disturbing him about such" I reprimanded.
"I'm sorry mama, sorry papa," she said sulking
"Don't worry pumpkin, I'll just rest for some time and we go could"
Isabella's lively self was back when she heard those words.
I chuckled, this father-daughter duo I thought as I shook my head.
*****
"Wow, this place is so big," Isabella remarked.
"Yes, it is," Anderson said, balancing Isa on his arm.
"So what do you want to do first?" Anderson asked.
"So many things to do and there is only one of me, that's too bad" Isa commented, placing her hands on her head.
Anderson and I burst out laughing.
Isabella is such a drama queen.
"Okay, how about we go for a jolly ride?" I decided to suggest something.
Isabella agreed
"Let's go there".
We all sat down as we started at the skies, digging into our Ice cream and enjoying the beautiful breeze. Today went really well, Isabella seemed so happy, she was still smiling, she's such a sweet child.
"I think we're done here" Anderson muttered but it was loud enough for Isabella and I to hear.
He continued "Let us go and meet Eleanor now".
We all finished our Ice creams and headed to Eleanor's tent. We stepped into Eleanor's tent and we were greeted by her powerful voice.
"Welcome, it's been a long Layla and Anderson, I see you brought you brought your little one"
"What is her name?" she added.
"Isabella" Anderson responded.
"Isabella," Eleanor said. The name rolled out of her tongue with ease.
Take your seats.
We sat as she went inside for a few seconds and returned with her large Orb. We watched her as she set up everything.
"Isabella, come and hold my hand" she requested, with her eyes closed.
Isabella looked at both of us with questioning eyes. I gestured for her to comply and she did so.
She got down from her father's legs on which she sat and proceeded cautiously towards Eleanor.
She finally had her hand. Eleanor then placed her second hand on the orb and immediately her face changed.
She kept displaying different emotions on her face for some minutes.
She finally opened her eyes and let go of Isabella while Isabella Rushed quickly towards her father's side.
The next words that came out of Eleanor's mouth were not what we were expecting at all.
"She's trouble"
Anderson and I were taken aback.
"What did you just say?" Anderson pressed.
"You heard me, I said she's trouble," Eleanor said repeating the same words.
"She has two energies within her, a good and bad one, it's just like the one that runs in your family but hers is very strong, very very strong. If she allows the bad energy to take over,it will spell doom for everyone. She has great powers, far greater than I have ever seen. It's just like Mia's."
Mia was the strongest to ever exist in our families. We all had exceptional powers that others didn't but hers were on a completely different level and her life was not a peaceful one because of her extraordinary abilities.
Eleanor continued "Maybe even stronger than Mia's who knows she said with a sinister smile. She's going to bring trouble for you both, once other rival clans know such powers exist, they won't waste time in coming for her. She's the one in the prophecy."
Everywhere was spinning, the prophecy,I heard about it since I was a kid and I never thought my daughter would be the "Harnesser".
Anderson and I decided to keep her hidden for her safety.
As we walked home, our hearts were heavy, no one uttered a word, and we were all lost in thoughts.
We finally got home and after dinner Isabella had gone to sleep. Anderson and I made plans on what to do.
