Chapter 5

Isabella's pov
It was like every other day,papa Went to work leaving mama and I at home. But today mama decided to go to the market herself and our maids and guards were still on their holiday. Papa gives them two weeks holiday every six months.I wanted to follow her but she insisted I stayed behind.
Mama gave me some instructions before leaving.
"Isabella I'll be going now,be careful okay, don't go too far from the house,stay close, and if anyone comes don't let them in and don't show them your powers,okay?
"Yes mama,I responded"
Mama left immediately after giving me the instructions
I laid on my bed as I stared at the ceiling,I slept off and woke up,no signs of mama.I was bored.I got up from the bed and decided to go towards the garden. I was playing with the flowers when my eyes caught sight of something rather someone close to the river bank and she looked like my age mate. I quickly left the house through the back and headed for the river,hoping to finally have a friend,I just hope mama and papa won't be angry at me because of this but I really wanted to play with someone especially someone that looked like me.
I finally got to the river side and I saw a girl with red hair and blue eyes.I have never seen someone with a red hair before.
"I like you hair" I uttered trying to stir up a conversation.
She turned to look at me sharply.
"Thank you".
"I'm Isabella" I said determined not to end the conversation.
She paused contemplating for a moment,then she replied.
"I'm Nina".
"How did you get your red hair " I pressed as I stared at her beautiful red hair in fascination.
"My grandmother had red hair and my papa said I got it from her". Nina replied.
"It really is beautiful,I've never seen anything like it before" I genuinely replied.
"Thank you" Nina replied, blushing.
We hit it off instantly and we kept playing. Time went by really quickly and I suddenly remembered that mama would definitely be back by now,I needed to leave immediately.
"Bye Nina,see you around"
"Bye Isabella" she said waving enthusiasticaly.
I really hope I see her again I thought as I ran towards my home. When I got back,there was still no sign of mama. I sighed in disappointment as I slopped on the chair and decided to wait for her. I should have continued playing with Nina. My mind kept imagining different scenes of Nina and I having fun.....I slowly drifted off to sleep.
Isa...Isa...Isa
I opened my eyes and papa's face came into view.
"Papa" I exclaimed and hugged him.
"Where's your mother?
"I've not seen her since,she went to the market but she's still not back."
Papa's face suddenly changed.
"Don't come outside" he instructed me.
I nodded. Something was wrong,I hope mama is alright.
I sat alone as in my room as I waited for papa and mama to come back. Seconds turned into minutes,minutes into hours. I was hungry and went to get an apple. I went back to my room
Three hours later......
I was starting to get frightened. Neither mama nor papa we're back and it was getting really late.
I heard some sounds.
Papa....I thought.
I jumped from my bed and ran outside,I saw papa carrying mama in his arms and James,his best friend was with him.
"She was ambushed,I think they finally found out about Isabella but they're only suspicious. They are not exactly sure and they tried to make her talk but torturing her but she denied it. I only saw her in the forest after they dumped her,she managed to narrate this to me before she fell unconscious. I already called the doctor and he is on his way"
James narrated,he is my father's best friend.
"Thanks for your help" papa expressed his gratitude.
"Isabella,how are you doing child" James asked going note of my presence.
"I'm fine papa" I replied.
I was really concerned about mama,I was able to understand what uncle James said to a certain level and I think mama is in this condition because of me.
Papa took mama to the room. The doctor came in few minutes later,he treated mother's wounds and have us some herbs to mix for her. He said it would make her heal faster.
I didn't know when I started crying while looking at her.
"Mama was injured because of me" I muttered.
"It's not your fault pumpkin, don't blame yourself,mama was just trying to protect you, they are just bad people and you have to stay away from them" papa said
He continued "Just take care of your mama and everything would be fine" he said
I knew this wasn't true,the other day they had a discussion about this thinking I was asleep but I heard everything. The fact that I am unable to do anything makes me really sad.
"Come let's take you to bed."
I complied with this but my heart was still heavy with guilt.

Layla's pov
Current day
It's been a few days since I was ambushed.
Isabella never left my side during this few weeks and I had almost fully recovered.
Anderson had also been at home these past day and today we were all in the garden when suddenly one of our guards came running to us.
"What are you doing here,or you miss us so much that you don't want to enjoy your holiday anymore" Anderson joked.
Sir.... they ...they..are coming.
"Who are they?"
We were all at alert.
"I think they know about Isabella,they are coming for her" He responded.
Anderson and I were shocked. That statement felt like a huge blow.
"Oh no....we don't have enough time,I didn't expect their attack so early,we have to run now" Anderson instructed hastily and we set to work, we ran as fast as we could. If only we could escape this time....
All these thoughts flooded my mind. As I took my last breath.
"She's safe" I thought feeling satisfied and I took my last breath.
