Meeting the unknown (Dustin's POV)

1181 Words
"Alpha..." I hear my Beta Marcos voice in my head. "Yeah Marcos?" I reply through the mind link. "We found an unknown creature in the woods at the river. She appears human, but has no scent at all. How would you like us to handle her?" I sigh. A being with no scent. I have never heard of such a thing. "If she appears to be harmless, bring her to the pack house to meet me. If she is hostile or shows any sign of being a threat, take care of it." I close the link and think of any type of thing that can hide their scent. Maybe she is a witch who over powered her masking spell. I go back to the paper work laying on my desk. Among them was another letter from a neighboring  pack about offering the Alpha Jays mate-less daughter to be my Luna. He is hoping this will solidify our treaty and combine the two packs. I stare at her picture that was sent along with the letter. Her bleach blonde hair and fake tan make me and my wolf sick to our stomach. "Our mate is still out there. I can feel her life still continues." Whispers Char from deep in my mind. " I know she is, but I cant continue to lead this pack alone. I need my Luna and I need heirs. We may never find her or she never wants to be found." I reply sadly and hear him whimper. I agree with Char, she is out their somewhere, but I'm already 28 and being an Alpha allows me to find my mate at 16, right after our first shift. I have searched everywhere. I have gone to every pack and even the running of the wolves which is where mate-less males meet to challenge each other for the mate-less female they fancy. I met every she-wolf that belongs to packs and none of them were mine. I had given up on the 5th month into my search after some of the rouge camps tried to take my title. I easily ended those camps, but it proved that no rouge would agree to the mate bond. I continue to hear Char whimper as my thought continue to wonder on our failed search and our lost mate. His cry begins to give me a headache. until I realize that the pressure is from a pack member trying to connect through the mind link again. I open the link to only be yelled at by Marcos. "WHY THE HELL DID YOU BLOCK ME!" I roll my eyes. "I was talking to my wolf and didn't need a needy Beta interrupting us. What did you do with the female?" My mind stays quiet for a few seconds. "She seems innocent, we are just reaching town and should be in your office in about 10 minutes." "Very well." I close the link again and clean my desk. I hide the picture of Alphas Jays daughter. I look at the drawer now containing the picture trying to find out why I felt the need to hide the photo. My pack knows about the potential relationship, but something deep down told me I needed to remove it from my sight. I hear the main door of the pack house open and close and Char begins to get excited and pace in my mind. It is a rare behavior, but I decide to ignore it. I hear a single knock and the door begins to slowly open. I am suddenly hit with the most heavenly smell of vanilla and fresh oranges. It attacks all my senses and has Char howling. I find it difficult to focus on the conversation taking place. My men bow in respect before me as they always do when a guest is on our land. "Sir, we have the woman we told you about." Marcos states strongly. "Present her." I command with my Alpha tone. It makes me sound more powerful to outsiders even if they are unaffected. Char howls and jumps around my mind in delight. "Mate! Mate! Mate!" He howls and I was confused until I saw her. My eyes are attracted to her like magnets. She was a goddess hidden in plain clothes. Her long raven hair loosely drops to her waist and shines in the light, her eyes are as deep as the forest and shined like a precious stone, her skin was naturally tanned by the sun, and her body... Oh her body was tight and soft. She had curves in all the right and I couldn't wait to run my hands over her. "MATE!" I growl out as my wolf momentarily takes over and I leap over my desk to stand right in front of her. I cant contain myself and reach out genitally to her cheek and run my hand softly over her soft and beautiful skin. I feel the sparks of the mate bond that everyone has told me about. The prove to me that my wolf wasn't lying to me about her being ours. "I would never lie about mate!" I ignore him and look into her wonderful green eyes. She purrs at my touch and I close my eyes and just enjoy the sparks. "I cant believe I finally found you." I whisper almost to myself. I am taken aback when she didn't reply and begin to worry she is mute. "Can you speak? I wish to hear your voice." I ask while looking back into her eyes. She nods cautiously. "I am Safire. May I ask who you are and what is a mate?" She bows slightly and I feel the heat rush to my cheeks. How embarrassing! I just assumed she was a were or mythical beast of some kind and would know about mates. I also expected my men to have explained who I was. "My name is Dustin and... the rest will be difficult to explain. I didn't realize you weren't like us. I do know you arent human, so you will have to explain yourself as well." I take a gamble and rub my neck and stand straight hoping my guess on her not being human is right. "We can talk in private then. We have much to discuss." Her voice carries power and elegance in it unlike before. My wolf purrs and I melt hearing her true self. "Leave" I link to my men and they stare at me like im crazy. I wave my hand to dismiss them as a final warning and they leave. "Be careful, we dont know what she is" I hear Marcos warn through the link as he closes the door. "Have a seat then." I turn and pull out a chair from the front of my desk for Safire to sit at. I walk around to my chair and take a seat as I wait for her to settle into the chair provided. I can tell she is analyzing me and trying to read the situation. This will be interesting.
