CHAPTER FIVE I wondered how many people noticed our entourage as we sped onto the interstate in rush hour traffic. Then again, it wouldn’t have mattered because we weren’t causing any trouble. The hatchbacks made sure of that, tracking us on both sides so that we couldn’t change lanes. The first glimmers of twilight streaked the sky as we rolled off the highway toward a square glass tower with a shimmering neon shell—it looked like a skewed photograph frame. The casino hotel. Night was falling fast. “I want answers,” Ant’ny said. We had avoided his questions so far, but he wasn’t accepting our silence anymore. “This kinda thing doesn’t happen every day!” I sighed. Maybe picking him up from work was a bad idea. I couldn’t have known in retrospect that we’d have a supernatural encounter.
