Wash U is near Forest Park. Bo took side streets to Forest Park Parkway, a long, winding tree-lined road that ran alongside Forest Park, one of the crown jewels of my city. The street, rimmed with orangish-yellow tungsten street lights, runs parallel to the MetroLink, which is our city’s version of a slow-speed public rail system. A train scooted by, carrying what looked like a bunch of St. Louis Cardinals fans dressed in red and white baseball shirts, probably coming from a game downtown. Forest Park was quiet tonight, barely visible over the tall walls that divided it from the MetroLink tracks.
