The Fang came for the grain nine days after the wagons filled it, and they came in the ugliest possible way.
They came at moonset, from three directions, with fire.

Kade was out of the barracks door before the second shout, hauling his coat on over the bandaged hand, and the sky above the north wall was already the wrong color.
