The ship Verta sailed safely through a glowing cloud bank as the sapphire shimmer of islands aligned to create a guiding path for transient voyagers. After two days at sea, the group arrived in sight of icy Glacius, its towering mountains wreathed in winter mists. As they docked in a harbor carved of blocky blue ice, Eira reflected on the journey so far. Meals had been quiet and tense, with Talos brooding in thought, aloof Vale nose deep in some dusty text, and untrustworthy Arlo always sporting his insufferable smug grin whenever he caught Eira glaring. Now, on the frostbitten streets of Glacius winding between polished ice towers, Arlo took the lead towards the black market district, assuring he could locate passage into the restricted scholar's archives. As Eira trailed behind she noticed shadowy figures tailing them, rough men whose hands sparked erratically with unstable magic - victims of elemental overdose from using unbound shards. "We have company..." Eira whispered to Talos. But before her guardian could respond a wall of ice and rock erupted before them, cutting her and Vale off from the others! Through the hazy blizzard they saw Arlo blast back their attackers with kanji symbols while Talos drew his gleaming blade. "This way!" yelled Vale, leading them down a dim alleyway. But soon three gruff sorcerers blocked their escape, frost daggers forming in their grip. The situation looked dire until salvation arrived from an unexpected front...
