Kelvin was just about to settle himself when Megan walked in. Curious to see her coming over so late, he immediately gave her a passionate kiss while caressing her body. Megan thought Kelvin was acting strange tonight but didn't want to push any further. She was enjoying his show of affection for her. A few minutes later, she was able to regain control and asked Kelvin what the problem was. She could tell something was upsetting him. "Is everything okay?" she asked, concerned.
"It's nothing. I'm just glad to see you," Kelvin replied.
"Is that so?" Megan said, trying to taunt Kelvin. "Is that why you were kissing me so passionately, as if you haven't seen me in a while?"
Kelvin tried to change the subject, wanting to hide the incident from her. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" he asked with a hint of concern.
Megan's demeanor suddenly turned cold as she gazed at Kelvin. "I called and texted several times, but your phone was switched off the whole day. I got worried, that's why I came over when I didn't hear from you," she explained.
Kelvin realized he had forgotten to turn his phone back on after switching it off earlier in the day. The remorse on his face was evident as he reached out to comfort Megan and apologize. "I'm so sorry," he said. "I switched it off earlier, but I lost track of time and forgot to turn it back on."
Megan raised an eyebrow. "I hope you're not lying to me. Because if you are, I'll eventually find out and I won't take it easy on you."
Kelvin laughed, trying to ease the tension. "Who could be more beautiful than you? I would never cheat on you," he said before kissing her passionately again to reinforce his love for her.
Megan was pleased by Kelvin's actions and reactions. She felt the passion of his kiss, first on her lips and then her whole body began to vibrate passionately for him.
By the time Kelvin woke up the next day, Megan was gone. But before he could think of anything else, he saw the note she left behind. After reading through it, there was a smile on his face. Not long after, there was a knock on the door. "Who could be knocking this early in the day?" he thought to himself. "Only a handful of people know where I stay." Immediately, his expression changed, and he reached for his gun inside his drawer. He walked straight to the side of the door to peek through the peephole. Looking through the hole, he could not see anyone. He thought for a while, saying to himself, "I know I heard knocking. Why is there no one here now?" He didn't open the door immediately, as he waited for a while to see if anyone would come again. After about twenty minutes of waiting, he decided it was time to open the door. Gently, he opened the door, pointing his gun in the direction of his line of sight before changing it to the opposite direction. Once he was satisfied that the hallway was empty and there were no hidden objects around, he noticed a parcel on the floor. He observed it carefully before picking it up. "Who could have dropped this parcel?" he thought to himself. "And why didn't he or she stick around?" He didn't have long to ponder about it as he carefully opened the parcel to see what was inside. Kelvin was suddenly shocked to see a thumb with blood wrapped in a tissue, and a note saying, "You owe me for this. Come over to the Nightingale Restaurant to thank my person." The note ended. "Who could have done this, and whose thumb does this belong to?" These thoughts were running through Kelvin's mind as he seemed to be lost in deep thought.
At the Nightingale Restaurant, a smartly dressed Kelvin walked in. He scanned the surroundings, looking for any standout person, even if it was a familiar face. Not wanting to be too obvious, after a long time of staring around and not noticing anyone, he decided to take a seat and order a wine to pass the time. Before long, a beautiful lady approached and stood in front of his table. Kelvin could see that she was very beautiful, but he struggled to recognize her. She teasingly said to Kelvin, "It seems you have forgotten me so soon." Kelvin did a double take, realizing that he recognized the familiar voice. This lady must be a master of disguise for Kelvin not to recognize her. He took a deep breath before saying, "Scarlet." Of course, the lady was none other than the Scarlet Assassin. There was a hint of self-importance as she said to Kelvin, "You finally figured it out, and get used to it because you are going to see different sides of me." Kelvin didn't say much after that; he just gestured for her to take a seat. Not wanting to waste any time, Kelvin pressed on, "I am going to take a wild guess and say you are the one who left that parcel on my doorstep." Scarlet didn't bother to deny it; she just nodded in agreement. Kelvin continued speaking, "Now that you have gotten my attention, who does that thumb belong to, and what does it have to do with me?" The Scarlet Assassin took a deep breath, as if trying to catch her breath, before saying in a taunting manner, "Are you not going to offer me anything first? Is this how a gentleman like you behaves in front of a lady?" "This lady loves playing games with my emotions," Kelvin thought to himself. "I just can't read her," he concluded.
Seeing how confused Kelvin was, Scarlet let out a cold laugh before saying, "The thump belonged to an assassin trying to kill you." Immediately, Kelvin's demeanor became very cold as he stared straight into Scarlet's eyes and repeated her words, "You mean someone was trying to assassinate me again?"
