Finally, December 3rd. The day is approaching and I am getting anxious day by day. I expect the Xenos to come out of hiding in about a week to ten days maximum, and I have moved all of the utilities and tools with my new SUV. Amanda was an amazing helper, even though she gave me angry glares from time to time. I bought my parents a “surprise vacation” pack to a hotel just outside of Castaic. They left today and will be back by the 13th. I told the rest of my friends that we will be leaving in a few days, even Rick who’s still holding some bitterness against me but swings by from time to time. I hope they informed their loved ones as well. Alexander played along as if it was a fantasy writing and adviced me on what to buy for any repairs to the city, the hydroelectric dam and any other emergencies. Thankfully, for some reason guns in the States are legal to buy, so I bought a few secretly from Amanda, who would kill me with one of the shotguns if she found out. It’s not that fun being blasted to the face with it, I can say that for sure. I hired two bodyguards that live permanently on Castaic and payed some shady people to stir some trouble so that the local police would gather a bit more there. Everything is in it’s place.
The only thing that’s left is to buy are the food and water supplies and that’s everything. I wanted to persuade Richard to come with us, something that I will try one last time by inviting him here and talking to him, even though he stated he doesn’t want to hear made up stories when he’s around. Alexander is having a blast as far as I can tell making a mockery out of me, pulling jokes and having free stuff, but I honestly don’t mind, it’s so worth it. I thought of contacting James, the biochemist, but he was alive in that other timeline, so I suppose I don’t have to yet.
I sit on the couch and open up the TV. Amanda and Alex are here, minding their business as well. As I was lazing around watching, after a while there was an emergency broadcast. They showed images of 2 metre tall black creatures that resembled gorillas devastating cities all around the world. The news reported that America was hit as well in various states. And that they await further news. I closed the TV before I could learn what other states were hit. I could care less. What just happened, is that the future changed and those killing machines are here earlier than expect. I shake off my staggering and look Amanda with a glance that screams “I told you so”. With no time to gloat in the moment of proving someone right, I step outside and I tell the now shaking Alex to start the car while I was checking some final things, in case I forgot something. I instruct the now fully compliant Amanda to clear out any food I had to pack with us and hand her my phone to call Richard. Speak of the devil, he came in a few minutes with beers in his hands asking “What’s up”. At the same time, something I didn’t expect happens. The sky starts getting darker and darker, contradicting the previous sunshine. Faint noises can be seen heard through the distance. Now, I can say for sure that I am starting to s**t my pants a little bit as well. They are close and I was afraid we wouldn’t make it in time.
“You, in the car, now. I’ll go bring Amanda” I said with assertiveness to Rick.
