It’s Sunday morning and I am abruptly woken up at 9:00 in the morning by an alarm I must have set on my phone a couple of days ago. Whatever reason this machine is loudly playing jazz, I couldn’t care less at the moment. And so, I aggressively got up, turned it off and doze off for two more hours, before waking up more relaxed than ever, at least physically. No more fooling around. I quickly check the news once more out of insecurity, just to make sure that indeed everything is normal and nothing suspicious has happened yet. First things first, I need to mark the calendar and plan ahead. I take a sheet of paper and draw out the nine coming months.
“Today’s March 10th, so nine months from now will be….December. Somewhere early in September, things are going down.” I thought to myself as I was filling in with a highlighter the first ten days of December. Should I start telling the world about it? Or are they just going to assume I am nothing but a mad man. Be a laughingstock and try to warn everyone, or look out for myself and be selfish? What’s my goal here? Am I trying to just survive, or am I trying to be an ideal hero for everyone?
I take a deep breath and try to get back on track. What I think is the most efficient is to make proper preparations and brace for what is to come and maybe be battle ready by their second strike. If humanity as a whole barely managed to fend them off once, I stand no chance, especially considering everyone will think I’m simply seeking attention and pay me little mind. I should at least try to save as much people as reasonably possible. My parents is a must and Amanda is a no brainer. Any other less close person is situational and we’ll see. But this can be dealt with later on. To maximize our well-being and be safe, I need to relocate, this place is going to be a hellhole. The safest location that comes to mind is the place that small quiet village and that big city near it were established. It was arguably the least devastated, considering the number of Xenos making it through was honestly really low in comparisson. Though the city was partly damaged, a lot of things were salvaged to help gather momentum again.
And then, the plan hit me. I should beat that snobby “Prince” to the punch, and claim it myself. Considering I can gather everything needed months prior, I can raise it back up rather quickly and have direct access to renewable energy. But, no leader can truly rule alone. I am going to need people I can trust so I can work with them without any hindrances. I am definitely going to need a mechanic or an engineer to give insight on the hydroelectric dam. And I am definitely going to need someone that can protect me and the rest of the team. Good thing I kept in touch with certain classmates from high school. Looks like I am going to be socializing for a bit and getting even closer to them over these months.
Speaking of defending ourselves, I could use myself some working out. My weight is the definition of normal, but in the post-apocalyptic world, stamina and strength could go a long way. I could get considerable muscle growth on the sidelines; it will only be for the best.
It has gotten quite late, and I am quite happy with the progress so far. I realized only now that I need to keep up with my daily routine and schedule, and any planning will be extra work. I sigh, set up a new alarm on my phone, which I am extremely happy I now have again; the one back then was useless since I had no direct access to electricity.
“At least I’ll spend some time with Amanda and relive some good moments during that time.”
