Chapter 6: "A Warning from a Friend"

991 Words
Ava My phone rang, breaking the silence in my room. I hesitated for a moment before answering, hoping it wasn't another call from the agency or a reporter. But to my relief, it was my best friend, Sophia. "Hey, girl! How's it going?" Sophia asked, her voice bubbly and cheerful. I sighed, feeling a mix of emotions. "It's been better. I'm dealing with a lot of drama right now." Sophia's tone turned serious. "What's going on? You know you can tell me anything." I took a deep breath and filled her in on everything that had happened, from Samantha's betrayal to Alex's scheming. Sophia listened attentively, making supportive noises and asking questions. When I finished, she was quiet for a moment before speaking up. "Ava, I have to tell you something. I was at a party last night, and I overheard some people talking about you. They were saying some pretty nasty things, and I think it's connected to what's going on." My heart sank. "What did they say?" Sophia hesitated. "They were talking about your mom, Ava. They said some things that weren't true, but they're going to try to use it against you." I felt a chill run down my spine. This was getting uglier by the minute. "Thanks for warning me, Sophia. I appreciate it." Sophia's voice was firm. "Ava, you know I've got your back. We'll get through this together." It was then that I remembered I had some good news to share with Sophia. "Hey, Soph? I just signed a new contract with a major brand! I'm so excited!" Sophia squealed with delight. "Ava, that's amazing! We need to celebrate!" I grinned, already knowing where this was going. "I was thinking the same thing. Want to meet up at Eclipse tonight? I heard they have a great DJ spinning." Sophia didn't hesitate. "I'm in. What time?" I checked my watch. "How about 10? I'll meet you at the entrance." Sophia agreed, and we made plans to meet up later that night. As I hung up the phone, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. It had been too long since Sophia and I had gone out and had some fun. And tonight, we were going to dance the night away. Few hours later I could hear Sophia honking the horn to let me know she was there. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door, locking it behind me. As I got into the car, Sophia turned to me with a smile. "Hey, girl! You look amazing. I love that dress." , feeling a little self-conscious. "Thanks, Soph. You don't look so bad yourself." We chatted as Sophia drove, catching up on each other's lives. When we turned onto the main road, ...the music and lights of the club came into view, and I felt a surge of excitement. We pulled up to the entrance, and Sophia handed her keys to the valet before we stepped out of the car. As we entered the club, the thumping bass and flashing lights enveloped us, and we made our way to the bar. Sophia ordered us a round of cosmopolitans, and we sipped our drinks while scanning the crowded room. The DJ was spinning a lively mix of tracks, and the dance floor was packed. Sophia grabbed my hand, and we pushed our way through the crowd, laughing and shouting over the music. As we danced, I felt a sense of freedom and joy that I hadn't experienced in weeks. Sophia and I lost ourselves in the music, spinning and twirling to the beat. After a few songs, Sophia leaned in close and shouted over the music, "I'm going to go grab us another round of drinks! You stay here and keep dancing!" I nodded, and Sophia made her way back to the bar. As I continued to dance, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see a familiar face - flashing a sly smile at me. My instincts told me to be wary, but I pushed aside my concerns and smiled back at him. "Hey, Alex! What brings you here tonight?" Alex leaned in close, his voice barely audible over the music. "I heard you signed a new contract. Congratulations, Ava. You deserve it." I raised an eyebrow, unsure of Alex's true intentions. But before I could respond, Sophia returned with our drinks, and Alex disappeared into the crowd as quickly as he appeared.I took another sip of my drink, feeling the alcohol coursing through my veins. Sophia grabbed my arm, her expression concerned. "Ava, I think you've had enough," she shouted over the music. "You're starting to sway!" I laughed, feeling carefree. "I'm fine, Soph! I can handle it!" But Sophia looked unconvinced. "Ava, seriously, stop drinking. You're going to regret it tomorrow." I rolled my eyes, feeling a bit annoyed. "Come on, Soph! Don't be such a buzzkill! I'm celebrating my new contract!" Sophia's grip on my arm tightened. "Ava, listen to me. I don't like this. You're not acting like yourself." I shook her off, feeling a bit defensive. "I'm just having fun, okay? Stop worrying so much!" But as I turned back to the dance floor, I stumbled, my legs feeling wobbly beneath me. Sophia caught me, holding me steady. Ava please listen to me. your mom will be mad when she finds out about this she said pleading. I raised my brow” how old am I ? I’m twenty- three,” I said as I take another sip from my drink, she won’t get angry trust me and beside I’m already a full grown woman My point is,” Fine what room I said cutting her short, Room 676 she said, I started walking to the elevator… enjoy your self with the dude and don’t forget to come pick me up in the morning I said, Sophia giggle and was blushing before waving each other.
