Chapter 2:A Painful Encounter

834 Words
Ava As I walked into the modeling agency, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. It had been weeks since I discovered Alex's infidelity, and the wound still felt fresh. I had managed to avoid Samantha, the girl he cheated with, until now. I turned a corner, and suddenly, we were face to face in front of the casting director's table. Samantha's smile faltered for a moment before she regained her composure. I could sense her discomfort, but I didn't care. I was still trying to process my own emotions. "Hey, Ava," she said, her voice tentative, as we both waited for our turn to audition. I nodded curtly, unsure of what to say. We stood there for a moment, the tension between us palpable. "I'm sorry, Ava," Samantha said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "I never meant to hurt you." I raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "You didn't mean to hurt me? You slept with my boyfriend, Samantha. That's not something you do by accident." Samantha looked down, shamefaced. "I know. I was weak, and I made a mistake. But please believe me, I never meant to cause you pain." I laughed, a bitter sound. "You didn't mean to cause me pain? You think that makes it okay? You think a simple apology can erase what you did?" Samantha took a step back, her eyes welling up with tears. "I don't expect you to forgive me, Ava. But I hope you can find it in your heart to understand that I'm not a monster. I'm just a flawed human being who made a terrible mistake." I shook my head, feeling a mix of emotions: anger, hurt, and disappointment. "I don't know if I can ever understand, Samantha. But I do know that I need to move on from this. And I need you to stay out of my life." Samantha nodded, tears streaming down her face. "I understand. I'll leave you alone, Ava. But please know that I'm truly sorry for what I did." The casting director called my name, and I turned to walk away, leaving Samantha standing alone in the agency. I knew I still had a long way to go in terms of healing, but I was determined to move forward, no matter how painful it might be. Samantha As I watched Ava walk away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I had hurt her, and that's exactly what I wanted. I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of power and control. I turned my attention back to the casting director, who was now looking at me with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. I knew I had to put on a good show, to make her believe that I was the perfect model for the job. "Hi," I said, walking confidently towards her. "I'm Samantha. I'm here to audition for the campaign." The director looked me up and down, her eyes lingering on my face. "Ah, Samantha. Yes, we've been expecting you. Let's get started, shall we?" I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement. This was it, my chance to shine. And I was going to make sure that I got the job, no matter what it took. As I began to pose and smile for the camera, I couldn't help but think about Ava. She was still hurting, still trying to process what had happened. And I was the one who had caused it. I felt a thrill of pleasure at the thought. I had won, and she had lost. And now, I was going to take what was mine. The director smiled at me, clearly impressed. "You're doing great, Samantha. Just a few more shots and we're done." I nodded, feeling a sense of triumph. I had done it. I had hurt Ava, and now I was going to get the job. As I finished up the photo shoot, the director came over to me with a smile. "Samantha, you did fantastic. We'll be in touch soon to let you know our decision." I beamed with pride, knowing I had nailed it. I gathered my things and was about to leave when I saw Ava walking out of the director's office, looking upset. I felt a surge of satisfaction, knowing I had gotten to her. But then, something unexpected happened. The director called out to Ava, "Ava, wait! We'd like to offer you the job." My heart sank. What? No, that couldn't be right. I was the one who was supposed to get the job. Ava turned around, looking surprised but happy. "Really? Thank you so much!" I felt a wave of anger wash over me. This couldn't be happening. I was the one who had hurt her, who had played her. And now, she was getting the job? I forced a smile onto my face, trying to hide my true feelings. "Congratulations, Ava. You deserve it." But inside, I was seething. This wasn't over. I would make sure of it.
