Haa, did I have that quiz today? I can’t remember. Oh? Wait, I need to do a proper introduction. My name is Nishihara Sayuki, a high school student attending Toyogaoka Public High school. I live a relatively normal life, with my Mother and my Little Brother in Tama City. Mornings have never been my thing, but having a little brother can be quite the effective alarm in the morning. Children are so hyper.
“Nee-chan! Nee chan!”
I opened my eyes groggily to find my brother staring at my face, shaking my shoulders and shouting at my face to try and wake me up. Obviously he did the trick. Yawning, I would get up to which he would smile and jump at me
“Ohayou Nee-chan!”
“Ohayou, slept well Koharu?”
“Hm!”
He nodded with the typical excitement of a 5 year old. I couldn’t help but smile, giving him a little pat on his head
“Why don’t you go have breakfast? You can tell Mom I’ll be in there soon.”
Kohaku nodded and ran off into the kitchen. Our flat being quite small, I could hear him telling Mom I woke up. Getting up I walked into the bathroom, looking at my reflection in the mirror. Brushing my teeth and washing my face in quick order, I just made my hair slightly neater, just so Asaki-senpai couldn’t call me Bedhead-chan again. I went back to my room, making sure to lock the door. Picking up the hanger on which my school uniform was, I would set it on the bed, changing into my uniform. Making sure my skirt was the right length, and tying my tie looking in the mirror as well as dusting the sleeves a bit. After all that was done, I walked out into the kitchen. My mother already set my breakfast on the table before. She was already in her clothes ready for work. As she was pulling on her shoes in the hallway, she would call out for me.
“I’ll be leaving a bit early, so could you drop Koharu to kindergarten?”
“Yeah”
“Thanks Sacchan”
I smiled as I watched my Mom leave. It was normal for her to call me Sacchan. I looked at the food in front of me, holding my chopsticks. It honestly was a blessing that Mom could cook this well. She made some Tamago Kake Gohan for me and my brother to eat. I waved at her as she left for work, before digging in. Taking apart the rice, I would eat it, savouring every bite. It really was delicious. I’d probably be able to just about make an egg and maybe a sandwich. Eating relatively quickly was normal of me, putting the bowl back in the sink I would call out
“Kohaku! Get ready for Kindergarten!”
The response I heard wasn’t his voice, rather it was rustling and the sound of a book closing and scurrying before he emerged in the hallway
“Haaai!”
He stood there ready as ever. I chuckled as I picked up my bag and my gym clothes, double checking that my epi-pen was in one of the outer pockets of my bag. For the record, I have a dairy allergy, so that kinda limits the amount of food I can eat. It's not extremely easy to find dairy free stuff all the time. I would nudge him to follow me. I pulled on my school shoes as he fumbled to put his own shoes on. After a short time I would hand him his bag, which he wore as we both exited. He waited behind me as I locked the door behind us. Walking down the stairs we would exit onto the street. My Brother’s kindergarten isn’t too far a detour from my normal route to school. I can easily make it in good time. As we walked through the streets. The hustle and bustle was normal. It was spring, April to be precise. The new school year had just started. There was still that slight chill in the air, and the Sakura trees were starting to bloom now, their pink petals drifting in the wind. As we turned a street Koharu would run ahead a bit, his Kindergarten gate being right around the next corner
“We’re here!”
He would shout back at me to which I giggled
“Hai, hai. Just don’t fall now.”
“I’m a big boy now! Nee-chan doesn’t need to worry too much.”
He was very wrong. If he did fall, and get slightly hurt, he’d cry. Slowly he was growing out of it, but it would take some time
“Sure sure~”
I answered with a hint of sarcasm. Turning the corner I would stop on the corner as he entered. He stopped for a bit and waved at me.
“Bye!”
I smiled and waved back
“See you later~”
I waited for him to run inside before turning around. From here I needed to walk back to the main road before crossing the street and heading up to another smaller road. Near a hill was where the school was. Other people were also entering. The first thing most people saw was the main building with a bit of a front path and a small staircase. The school building was there. It was split into another building. On the other side was the sports field. On the far end was my club’s main room. The Kyudo club was the club I chose last year as a freshman, and so far I have stuck with it from the start. It's a fun club, and has relatively few participants. People do watch from time to time. The club meets after school but for now I made my way to the classroom, making sure to stop at my locker and keep my shoes on, wearing my school shoes instead that are meant to be used indoors.
The class was it’s usual state of pre- class activity. People were talking in their little groups. I set my bag down at my seat and sat down when I heard a familiar voice
“Hey Bedhead-chan~”
“Oh? Asaki-senpai.”
Haruna Asaki, or Asaki-senpai as I call her, is a 3rd Year, and the President of the Kyudo club. We became good friends after she recommended it to me when I just joined. Ever the fount of energy, she was a charismatic character. When doing Kyudo, she was a dead shot, and so was quite well known. It also explains how she became the next club president. She certainly looked the part too. Her light brown hair reached her shoulder blades and her breasts poked a bit at her uniform. Oh, and another thing, she is quite playful and teasing
“Seems like you sorted your hair a bit, good job!”
“Senpai you make it seem easy with your hair.”
I was right about that, her hair was always the same smooth and straight hair, day in and day out. My shorter black hair on the other hand, was generally somewhat messy but good enough to be considered presentable to most people. It reached to just below my shoulders
“Aww c'mon, if you gave your hair a few minutes in the morning you’d look cute as ever~”
“Senpai, I’m not trying to join an Idol group.”
“I bet you would be able to join one just fine~”
“My singing could lower property values near my house.”
After a while of being friends with her you get used to it. I saw the Vice President peek around the corner
“Asa-chan! Come here for a sec."
“Then, see you later Sayucchi~”
“See You!”
I called back at her and watched as she left, heading back to her own class, and all the other students also began to take their seats. Classes were as normal as ever. Taking notes, and teachers whizzing through the topics at a breakneck speed. I’m surprised people knew what was being taught.
Occasionally I would stare out of the window. Our class got a decent view of some of the neighbourhood below as well as some of the large buildings further out.
It was calming, well, would have been had it not been for the fact I spent most of the time scribbling down notes about whatever the teachers were shouting out to the class.
Man I can’t wait for club after school
