Gupta tried to hold Selkirk"s eye but failed. He muttered and began to walk again, but so slowly that the entire rear section of the column was shuffling rather than walking and the gap between the two sections grew with every minute.
"Sergeant Crosier: get Gupta moving. I don"t care how you do it."
Selkirk struggled to the front of the column and looked down at his Reivers; strung out on the Snake Path with no cover as they were they would be a perfect target for any half decent body of Turkish infantry. Having experienced the skill of Turkish snipers at Gallipoli, Selkirk knew exactly how dangerous they could be.
