Melony’s POV
I’m still finding it hard to believe everything grandma ben said don’t get me wrong it’s just that it has been tough for me to digest the fact that I know nothing about my life and if what she said is true, then my life must really be in danger but I can’t do anything about it because i have nothing and I know no one.
It’s been almost a week since I recovered and I’ve been bedridden ever since because grandma ben won’t allow me to lift even a single finger.
Grandma ben has really become a mother figure to me since I don’t know my parents but I doubt if they are still alive because if they are, they would have found me.
Anyways, i have gradually started to accept my life here.
Today i woke up earlier than usual because i wanted to surprise grandma ben.
Guess what? I’m making breakfast today! Yep that’s right am cooking today because for some odd reasons i feel like i can actually cook so what better way to find out than to get my a** in the kitchen.
GRANDMA BEN POV
I woke up today to the smell of something delicious. ‘Hmm’ mary must be at it again, i quickly take a shower then walked down the corridor to check on mel and see if maybe she can join us for breakfast today. Her room is just two doors away from mine so I strolled down to her room and gently knocked on the door to announce my presence before opening it.
“Good morning sunsh……” the words were left hanging on my lips as i saw mel’s bed empty and perfectly made. My heart skipped a beat as I thought of what she might have possibly done. She might have decided to run away and try to find her memories. It’s all my fault I should have let her know that am carrying out an investigation even though it has not yielded any fruitful results, now she is gone. I felt sad but decided search for her instead of wailing.
I quickly make my way downstairs to the kitchen to inquire from mary if she has by any chance seen melony but on getting there, i saw the most beautiful sight. Mel was gracefully moving around in the kitchen trying to prepare breakfast for us. I stood by the door and watched her with a smile plastered on my face, mel was beautiful to a fault and if it’s coming from me, trust me she is damn beautiful.
Her beautiful glossy pitch black hair falls all the way to her lower back, she was wearing a short floral gown that goes all the way to her knees and it’s surprising how even such a simple dress could make her this beautiful. With just the right touch ( which is me) mel will be a walking beauty.
“And who said you could enter my kitchen and do as you please young lady” i asked faking annoyance.
Mel turned around and looked at me frightened. She had the most beautiful brown eyes I’ve ever seen.
“You should be in bed resting” i added and saw her heave a sigh of relief.
“Am sorry granny, i just thought that with everything you have done for me, this is the little i can do to pay u back” she said with her head bowed down.
“My dear angel, i was just kidding no need to get sentimental” i said as i walked towards and engulfed her in a warm embrace.
“And about paying me back, there will be no need for that consider me your mother even though you call me granny” she laughed before hugging me back.
“Thanks for everything you’ve done for me I really appreciate it but i have to get back to my cooking don’t wanna burn down the house on my first attempt” she giggled and went back to cooking.
“Thank you for blessing me with another daughter” i whispered silently.
We are currently watching a movie and melony seems to be enjoying it, i smiled as I watched her.
Breakfast was delicious, never imagined that mel would be such a good cook but then this girl is a bag full of surprises.
She will someday make a good wife and a loving mother just as my joyce would have been.
And as if on cue mel asked
“I don’t mean to pry into your private matters but can I know about your family i mean I haven’t seen anyone with you apart from mary, where is everyone?”
“It’s fine dear you are not prying, i was going to tell you anyways” i took in a deep breath before continuing “i gave birth to only one girl, her father my late husband died when she was fourteen, we lost him to cancer and so i was left with my only child”
“She grew up to become a lovely young woman, got married and had nathan my grandson but she got into an accident along with her husband and died” I tried to control my tears from falling but I’m sure mel must have already seen them
“So i raised nathan alone” i shrugged
“Am sorry granny life has really been unfair to you” she said while taking my hand into hers
“You are here now that’s what matters” i said smiling.
