Matthew and Tina left for Boston soon after that dinner.

Today was the day of the full moon and Ella being everything but calm.

“Come on Ell. I’m sure everything will be fine.”

“That’s easy for you to say. You’re not turning into a werewolf.”

We were in my bedroom after coming from school. Jay promised her he and her mate Drake will be there for her and help her and guided her through the shift. Jay was still with that blond bimbo barbie whose name is Madyson I learnt it after a while (I caught them when they were making out).

We were sitting on my bed watching The Big Bang Theory and laughing when suddenly my bedroom window was open and Jay the guy from that day a month ago came through. He had brown hair and brown eyes and he was hot. And if he was Ella’s mate Drake, she definitely hit the jackpot.

Jay was of course glaring while his friend was silent beside him. their eyes were fogged.

And when their eyes came back to focus Jay decided to finally introduce us to one another.

“Girls this is Damiano, future Alpha of our pack. Damiano the one on our right is Ella the girl I was telling you about and the blonde one is her friend.”

He can’t even introduce me with my name?

“Damiano. Future Alpha of the Snow moon pack. Jay here is the future Beta.”

I had no idea what they’re saying but I guess they are important people in their pack. Jay never explained how werewolves live when they are not on the killing spree.

“I’m Ella.” Ella introduced herself and when she realized that I’m not going to say anything she introduced me herself.

“And this is my Friend Rebecca.”

Damiano and Jay just stood there for a second and it was obvious they were on edge. And that was when I decided to speak up.

“Okay. So, can you please tell us why you behave like you have a stick stuck up your ass?”

While Jay was glaring at me and sending daggers to my direction with his eyes Damiano couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Actually, we’re waiting for your mate.” He looked at Ella when he said that.

“Well Jay said that you can’t hurt your mate so why are you so grumpy about meeting him?”

It was Jay who all but nicely replayed to me.

“Because he’s a damn rogue. One of the most feared ones. He attacks and kills just for fun, because he’s bored. And yes, we’re worried because he’s going to be here.”

“He’s right. You can’t mess with him or it can turn ugly really fast really soon.”

When he said that there was a loud knock on my front door.

“Speaking of the devil.”

Damiano went to get the door while Jay stayed with us looking outside the window.

Not a minute passed when Damiano came in with another guy who I guess it’s Drake. And damn if I didn’t get scared when I saw him. he was handsome but scary too. Beside me I could see Ella with the corner of my eye get scared a little too. But she visibly calmed when he looked at her. And even his features softened when his eyes landed on her. He had a long cut from the corner of his left eye to his jaw. His scar reminded on Scar from the Lion king. So, I guess I’m just gonna call him that Scar when I’m going to talk about him.

Suddenly I felt an arm pull me away from Ella and outside of my room. Ella felt me move and panicky looked at me.

“Let’s give them some privacy to talk. We’ll be in the next room. Call us when you’re done.”

Jay kept on pulling me in the next room that turned out to be Matt’s old room from before he moved to Boston for college. Damiano closed the door and stood before it so I couldn’t leave the room.

“Move.”

“Why?”

“I need to go to the bathroom.” Lame excuse but what can I do I panicked. I just wanted to go back to my room to Ella.

“The bathroom’s door is behind you.” Damn he caught me lying.

I turned away from him wanting to go to the window but guess who was already there. Yep, you guessed right. It was Jay. So, I just sat down on Matt’s bed and waited.

The fact how Damiano was looking from me to Jay gave me the reason to believe that he knows about me and him. But he did what was better for him. and that was to stay quiet.

After solid 20 minutes which felt like hours, we heard a knock on the door telling us to come out.

We left Matt’s room and went back in mine. I sat down beside Ella who was with her head low telling me that the conversation didn’t go very well.

“The full moon is about to rise we have to go. We don’t want her to shift inside this room and destroy everything.” all of us stood to go. When we reached the front door, Jay stopped and turned to me.

“You’re not going anywhere. Stay here. It’s too dangerous.”

How dare he tell me what to do?

“No. I’m not staying behind. And don’t act like you care. I’m not your mate so you won’t boss me around.”

After a good long walk we came to a clearing. It was already late and all the way Drake was explaining to Ella the shift.

Drake and Ella were in the middle of the clearing while I was leaning on a tree. Damiano then came to me and I rolled my eyes.

“You know it was unfair of you to say that to Jay.”

“What part?” my eyes were still focused on Ella and Drake.

“When you said that you’re not his mate.”

“I said that because it’s true. I’m not his mate. I’ll admit I was but he rejected me a month ago.”

“He didn’t.” at that I finally looked at him.

“What?”

“He didn’t reject you. He didn’t say the right words.” And with that left to join Jay.

I didn’t have enough time to cope with the information that I got because a moment later I heard a piercing scream coming from Ella. I was ready to run to her but I got stopped by a pair of arms that were holding me back.

“Stop it. Stay here. You can’t go there. She’ll hurt you and maybe even kill you and then she’ll blame herself. And that will do no good.” Jay whispered in my ear.

Then the cracks of bones were heard and I took a step back just for me to collide with his hard chest. His arms circled around me and he hugged me and I buried my face in his chest because I couldn0t watch my best friend’s bones break and transform into something else.

After what felt like forever, I couldn’t hear any c***k of bones anymore I looked toward Ella. And where she stood just a moment ago now stood a tall beautiful chocolate brown wolf. She stood tall and was as big as Drake. Her eyes were glowing bright yellow. Then I could see Drake starting to strip and I covered my eyes not wanting to see him naked.

Soon I heard another bone cracking but this one lasted only a few seconds before there was another big black wolf with glowing red eyes.

Drake – wolfy Drake – nuzzled at Ella’s – wolfy Ella’s – muzzle and they started to run.

“Where are they going?”

“Just for a run. Don’t worry. When we shift for the first time, we need to go for a run to stretch our new legs.”

Realization hit me like a train that I’m still in Jay’s arms so I stepped away and sat down leaning on the tree.

“Jay why don’t you take Rebecca back to her house. The run can take a few hours. Especially if you’re with your mate.”

“What do you mean it can take a few hours?”

Jay looked at me and answered me like I should already know.

“It means that their wolves will want to mate.”

I gave him a look that clearly said I had no idea what he was saying.

“Oh, for f**k’s sake they want to have s*x.”

“No. Ella has a boyfriend. She would never do that to him.”

Jay sat beside me

“Yes. Ella wouldn’t do that to him. but her wolf doesn’t care.”

“Well, that’s rude.” I mumbled.

“I want to be here when she comes back so neither of you will convince me to go home so save your breath.”

Damiano was looking into the forest like he was looking for something.

“What is Damiano doing?”

“He doesn’t trust Drake. He had some of our warriors brought here just in case.”

“What case?” he didn’t answer me he just stared forward.

I was looking at him taking the opportunity when he was close and wasn’t looking

“Jay? What’s an Alpha and Beta?”

He looked at me and was staring at me for a moment before answering my question.

“Alpha is the leader of the pack. And Beta is his second in command.”

We stared in each other’s eyes for a while before I started feeling tired. For the past few days, I wasn’t feeling well. I was really tired and weak.

I closed my eyes and leaned against the tree. Soon I felt a pair of arms circles, around me and lift me up starting to carry me somewhere. But I was too tired to care.

Soon I drifted off to sleep.
