The meeting went well and they assigned me again to handle HFR Company.
I kind of expected that to happen but not this soon.
So now, I am assigned a task to visit all the branches of Halo Restaurant in the city and neighboring cities.
HFR Company is an extension of the VzN Empire. It focuses on Food and Research, and all of the products are exclusively being sold in the restaurants. I've been handling the company even before I decided to throw myself into a failed marriage, but for the past two years, I let someone handle it for me.
Now, I'm back with it.
It's already five in the afternoon, and I am at my last stop for today. I've visited five branches all around the city, and all is doing well. Though, none of them recognized me.
I walked past the group of people who were just entering the restaurant. This branch is one of the biggest of them all, since it's at the center of the City. It's a three-storey building that can cater parties at the top-most floor.
Since dinner is already starting, it was packed with too many people, but it's not too crowded since it's huge and has many tables that can cater both solo and large groups.
The first person I saw in uniform was the general manager of the branch. She's right in the middle, talking to people seated at that two-seater table.
She was with two staff in a different uniform, standing on both of her sides. I think they're handling something there.
I walked towards the counter and called someone.
"Yes? What can I help you with, Ma'am?" She's all smiles facing me. The nameplate on her left upper chest shows her name as Ruby.
"What's happening there?" I asked, pointing my finger to where their manager is.
"Ahm." She suddenly frowned, trying to figure out what she's supposed to say next.
"I'm from the Headquarters." I know what she's thinking. This is a private matter and I wouldn't need to know anything from their internal affairs if I am just a customer.
She's still contemplating to say anything so I pulled an ID from my little shoulder bag and showed it to her.
"Michelle Viazon?" Her deep furrows registered again in between her brows, trying to legit check what I presented to her.
"Miss Michelle Viazon?" She gasped upon realizing what she's seeing. I couldn't count how many times she looked at the picture on my ID and to my face before she realized everything.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Miss Michelle. I didn't know." She lowered down her voice as she kept apologizing.
"You did nothing wrong. What's happening there?"
"The customer claimed that she found a piece of plastic in her soup, as well as in her drink, Miss Michelle. Ms. Cindy has been negotiating with them since then."
"How long has it been since they claimed that?"
"It's been ten minutes, Miss. They weren't cooperating with anything."
"Alright. Go back to your post."
"Yes, Miss."
I sighed. I can hear Kyla's voice from here. It's always been her. She really can't choose a place where she could use her trashy attitude.
For sure, the man with him is Arden Fiasco. I wonder when my life could be at peace again, without them pestering me.
"Cindy." I called her as I stopped beside them. She looked at me and frowned.
She wouldn't recognize me for sure. Even the other general managers of the other branches couldn't recognize me with my choice of clothing.
I was actually planning to visit the sites in silence and just inspect everything with my eyes. But things happened, and I had no choice but to show them my ID with my real name and picture.
"It's me. What's happening here?"
I don't think she recognized me already, but Kyla suddenly stood up and faced me.
"You again? What the hell are you doing here?" I just stared at her with a flat gaze. Arden Fiasco also looked at me, but his eyes suddenly showed anger with the deep furrows in between his brows.
"Mitchie Sullivan." He greeted his teeth and stood up. "You had the audacity to show up here."
"Ah. I get it! This is why your food has plastics in them! You have this woman as an employee, that's why."
I kept my silence and let the two of them shout at my face. They both look so stupid without a class in front of me and everyone else who's listening.
They really wouldn't let me rest and have my peace.
"Please calm down. I think we're having a misunderstanding here." Cindy said, trying to calm them down.
"No! You know what? You're ruining this place by hiring her. You should never let someone like her enter this place! She's a bad luck! Now look what's happening!" She's getting everyone's attention by making her voice louder.
"You know what? No. I was ready for a settlement a minute ago, but seeing her here? I will file a report for all of you. You all need to shut down this business and all your branches! f**k your gold-like prices. Your food doesn't even taste good!"
That's an insult for everyone who works for HFR Company. We all work hard to provide good quality products. And her, saying that, is an insult to everyone, even to the people who are currently eating here.
"Are you done?" My calmness became her boiling point. Her face crumpled in anger.
"You're really so thick-skinned, huh? Where are you getting that confidence? Do you really think you're already so high because you've got to be working in a high-class restaurant that couldn't serve good food? Oh come on! That doesn't change the fact that you're a low-life creature, trying to climb up the ladder by marrying a Fiasco! You b***h. You came from dirt, so you should go back there!"
Now, I don't know what she's trying to say. She's just attacking me with her words that don't hurt me at all.
"Ma'am, you need to calm down. Let's settle first your issue with what we served you, and you can settle everything else outside with her." Cindy's trying to keep it together.
I made a non-verbal promise to my father not to cause any possible threat to his plans. But these people are really pushing my buttons. I've had enough.
"Cindy, get Ruby here and let her explain everything to you. I'll handle these two from here."
"Miss, you can't-"
"Get Ruby over here or all of you will start your day tomorrow, unemployed." I gave her a cold glare, before facing the two again.
"Miss, I'm sorry." Not a minute had passed and Ruby came rushing towards us without being called. I guess she heard me from there.
"Get the guards and pull these two out of this place. I'll handle them myself." I caught her bowing from my side vision before she went out of my sight.
"Cindy." I faced her, but she's still confused. "Put all the orders of everyone on my tab to settle them all for this mess. Make sure to investigate their claims professionally without any bias. I want a direct report before this day ends."
Just at the right time, Ruby came back with three uniformed guards, standing behind her.
"I need them at the headquarters. Twin tower B, seventy-seventh floor."
I heard people gasping around me, more from the people who work for VzN Empire. They must have been so aware of what's on that floor.
"Take them now and wait for me outside."
"Who do you think you are to drag us out? No. Do not ever touch me!" Kyla's shouting again as if she owns the place. She's just like her brother earlier. She keeps on pushing the guards away.
"And you!" Pointing her fingers at me, she yelled. "Who do you think you are to send us away? Our issue here hasn't been solved, and yet you're doing that? You're even commanding the people higher to you? What the hell of an attitude do you really have?"
I sighed. How can I even handle someone like Kyla in a very sophisticated place without cursing her to death?
I'm so close to banning her with everyone else in her family as well as this man standing beside her from all of the Viazon's properties.
"Your problem now is me. Your problem here has been sorted out and an unbiased investigation will be held for you. Now, if you have any other problem aside from that, let's handle them all privately."
Taking a pause, Kyla was ready to say something, but I am not yet done.
"Besides, I don't think you can afford anything from here now. If the investigation resulted in false claims and accusations and you're still here, you'll need to pay for the food of everyone here who was affected by your non-professionalism. If you don't want that to happen, you'll come with these people and leave silently."
I don't think that alone could make them leave. I wanted to be so professional, but if it's in front of Kyla and this Arden Fiasco, I don't think I could do that.
I took a step closer to them and toned down my voice.
"I heard both of your families are in serious debts. Millions after millions and banks after banks. You even have huge debts from the Viazon Family and here you are, trying to ruin one of their businesses."
Seeing their faces crumpled in annoyance and shock is so much satisfying.
"Do you really think your claims could bring them down? You'll be eating dirt first before you could even touch that family. You wouldn't want to be on their bad side, I'm telling you."
Being so close to them is so spine-chilling and gross that I took two steps back to get away from them after saying that.
"I am telling you that now so you'll be prepared. Now, about your other issues, let's go to the headquarters and settle everything there, shall we?"
