"What..." Her gaze shifted more than once from me to the man he called Justin until her eyes eventually settled on me.
"Ms. Michelle. Ahm. I - "
"Get yourself together, Aimee." I started walking past her, aiming for an elevator. "Don't tell anyone that I am here."
"Wait, where are you going? You haven't-"
"Just let her pass, Justin."
I stopped in front of the elevator, waiting for one to arrive. Their voices are still audible from here, and I just know that Justin would have an earful from Aimee. She hasn't changed a little, still the same Aimee who always does her job perfectly. She's the General Manager of the building, and I must say that she's the best at that.
"We never let anyone pass without a pass. Why all of a sudden you want me to let her go?"
"It's for your own good."
"I don't understand. That's a violation for our security protocols."
"Try to stop her then. Just don't blame me for anything after. I warned you."
Well, I thought she'd give him an earful. He's just like Aimee the first time she saw me back then, being so uptight just to do her job properly.
His footsteps started echoing from the marbled floor as he chose to do his job properly. When finally he stopped beside me, the elevator door opened.
I immediately frowned as soon as I saw a familiar face getting out of it. Louie's cold gaze met mine as he stepped outside.
"Mr. Taylor." Justin bowed before him as he eventually forgot my existence here.
The door closed behind him and I missed the chance to get inside. My bed has been waiting for me for two years and everyone's just trying to keep me away from that.
I scanned him with my eyes, starting from his head to his toe, before meeting his eyes again. He's trying to act cool in front of people wearing his jogger pants paired with a hoodie. He's really a walking gray man. Even his shoes are gray.
"Do you live here?"
"What the hell?" I transferred my gaze to Justin when he bursted that out.
"You don't say that to your tenants." I told him with a flat voice.
"No, YOU should never talk that way to Mr. Taylor. Do you even know who he is?"
"No. Not even interested to know." I shrugged.
"He's the CEO of VzN Tech!"
For Pete's sake, I know that. I was there when he was appointed to handle that business.
"I see." Pretending as if I care, I nodded while turning my head to see Louie's reaction. He's still the same, acting cool with his uninterested gaze.
"Go back to your post. If I find that post empty, you'll need to stay overnight." Isn't his voice gotten colder?
Without saying anything, Justin bowed down to him and started running away after. How could they hire a child? He's an adult but acting like a five-year old kid.
"So, you live here?" I raised a brow at him.
"Not as obvious as it is." He then also looked at me from head to toe, which I followed.
Oh right. I am wearing almost the same clothes as his. The problem here is that mine's worse. Why didn't I change my clothes before leaving? This is embarrassing, but should I care more?
Pink sweatpants and a black extra large shirt, great. I look like a girly gangster. To make it worse, My pink house sleepers complete the fashion. No wonder why Aimee looked at me like she saw an unfamiliar ghost.
"So, is this a come back?"
"As obvious as it is, yes." I rolled my eyes on him and went behind him to get to the elevator.
"It's worth a celebration then. Let's go." He grabbed me by my wrist and started dragging me away.
"You fucking... Stop dragging me!" Stumbling to be at his pace, I tried hard to keep my voice low, but annoyance took over me. He's literally dragging me out of the building, and Justin's shocked and loud gasps with Aimee's giggles didn't get past my ears.
"You're still as loud as before." When we were out of the building, he finally slowed down, but still didn't let go of me.
"And you're still annoying. Let go of me." I tried pulling my hand, but his grip was just too tight.
"I'll go with you, just remove your filthy hands off me."
And, he never falters. Whatever.
He kept on dragging me somewhere and I just followed him as if I really had a choice not to.
The buildings around began lighting up as the sun prepared to set at any moment.
For the past two years, I had never set my foot here or anywhere near. I've been avoiding the places where people who know me live and work. And those places were mainly this entire block and the next streets from here, as well as the valley just outside the city.
As I was too occupied with my memories, Louie suddenly stopped, and I was forced to do so. I didn't say anything, but I followed his eyes that were settled in ahead of us.
My gaze went flat when I saw who's coming towards us.
"I honestly forgot that I had a meeting with a trash." He removed his hand on me, thankfully.
"Well, a trash indeed."
Kyla's oldest brother stopped in front of us. His grinning from ear to ear and I wanted to give him a reason to remove that.
"Who's the lucky lady?"
I never imagined that Louie Taylor could ever be acquainted with one of Kyla's three brothers, who all wanted me to go to hell just to leave their sister's lover. He already sent me wreaths of flowers for their family-made funeral for me, and I would never forget how they mocked me and constantly put me to shame.
"Wait, she actually looks familiar." He turned to me and squatted to level his eyes on me. If killing is not prohibited, he'd be somewhere lying under the ground.
"Have we met before?"
"Probably in hell?" Louie pulled me away as he said that. I stumbled to keep my balance when he pulled me behind him. I wish he wouldn't just do whatever he wants.
"Oh. I didn't know you have this over protective side, Louie. Anyway, did you bring what I asked for?"
Louie's grip tightened and I could feel the anger leaving his body. What's with these two? And why should I need to be here anyway?
"I can't find anything."
"What? That's impossible!" He exclaimed. That made me frown. Isn't that too demanding on his side? That family really see themselves on top of everything. They think that everyone should bow down to them, as if they really have some good contributions to this world when all they do is to boast.
"You've seen her before. You should have at least one picture of her! You said she's a close friend right? Yet you can't even provide me that? I'm not even asking for anything man, just a picture of her."
I peaked at him from Louie's shoulders. He ruffled his perfectly gelled hair, and now he looks like a lion ready to eat Louie alive.
I forcefully removed his hand that was holding me. Thankfully he didn't argue with that. I stepped beside him and stared blankly at Jerard the trash.
"Just like what the rumors say about you, you're really so full of yourself."
"What did you say?" His attention came to me as his jaw clenched, acting as if I pressed a forbidden button in his head. "Do you even know what I was asking him to give me?"
"Do I need to care?" I raised a brow to infuriate him more.
"Michelle Viazon." I frowned. Louie just suddenly said my name out of nowhere? I looked up at him, but I only saw the side of his face.
"He's asking for Michelle Viazon's picture." He then slowly turned his head on me and met my eyes.
That's... mad.
