Chapter 9
I’m startled awake by someone knocking on my door. My mum starts to barge into the room and it’s only me shouting out that I’m naked that stops her. The door slowly moves back until it’s almost closed. The truth Is, I’m not naked, but I knew that would stop her. It might not have stopped my dad which would result in a whole new plethora of problems.
Mum adopts her sternest tone but I can tell that her heart is only in it so far as she doesn’t want to give dad any excuses to harass me more than normal. She’s about to leave for work, but she’s taking the time to reiterate just how much trouble I’m in and that I’ve been given strict instructions by dad to live like a monk.
I kind of listen but kind of not because someone moves beside me and I turn to see Evelyn looking back at me
